    Block deals worth over Rs 40,543 crore this week. Indus Towers, HAL, Suzlon Energy among stocks with major action


    While Nifty ended with modest weak-on-weak gains of 0.4%, the truncated trading week was laden with top action where over three dozen companies from large, mid and smallcap segments witnessed prominent block deals worth Rs 40,543 crore on screen, which included both buying and selling.

    In the largecap segment, 15 companies witnessed significant block deals on the screen, which were worth Rs 6,566 crore led by Axis Bank with a lone block count totalling Rs 2,089 crore. The next in line were ICICI Lombard General Insurance (Rs 814 crore), ICICI Bank (Rs 809 crore), Mahindra & Mahindra (493 crore), Maruti Suzuki (Rs 426 crore), Bharti Airtel (Rs 320 crore) and Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL, Rs 300 crore).

    Others were UltraTech Cement, HDFC Bank, Infosys, Titan Company, Varun Beverages, Kotak Mahindra Bank, LTIMindtree and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) with block deals between Rs 290 crore and Rs 94 crore.

    The data has been compiled by brokerage firm Nuvama and pertains to deals done this week between 8:45 am and 3:30 pm.

    The midcap segment was the real hero where a dozen companies witnessed prominent block deals on the screen, worth Rs 28,240 crore. The leader from the pack was Indus Towers where UK-based Vodafone PLC sold its stake worth Rs 17,198 crore followed by Piramal Enterprises (Rs 2,928 crore), ZF Commercial (Rs 2,319 crore) and Gland Pharma (Rs 1,806 crore). The others were Alkem Laboratories, AU Small Finance, Shriram Finance, Gujarat Fluorochemicals, One 97 Communications (Paytm), Delhivery, Poonawalla Fincorp and Macrotech Developers, which saw deals between Rs 195 crore and 94 crore.

    As for the smallcap stocks, block deals worth Rs 5,737 crore were struck in 12 companies. The number one spot went to Aster DM Healthcare (Rs 1,576 crore) followed by PNB Housing (Rs 1,197 crore) and Kalpataru Projects (Rs 1,071 crore). The others were Sansera Engineering, Poly Medicure, Advanced Enzyme Technologies, Amber Enterprises, Quick Heal Technologies, RCF, Chambal Fertilizers, Suzlon Energy and Ujjivan Small Finance Bank which saw deals between Rs 730 crore and 199 crore.

    Nuvama also reported prominent bulk, block and insider deals in 18 stocks with details of buyers and sellers. Among them were Indus Towers where Vodafone, Prime Metals, Mobilvest and Al-Amin Investments among others were sellers while Bharti Airtel, SBI Mutual Fund and Ghisallo Capital were among the buyers.

    Nippon India MF, Kotak Mahindra MF and SBIMF collectively bought shares worth Rs 621 crore in ZF Commercial Vehicle even, while Wabco Asia Private sold shares for Rs 2,194 crore. In Paytm, Goldman Sachs Sgx Pte sold shares worth Rs 183 crore.

    Rategain Travel Technologies, Amber Enterprises, KNR Construction, Alkem Laboratories, Shriram Finance, Shaily Engineering and Le Travenues Technology (Ixigo) were some other stocks with prominent bulk, block and insider deals with details of buyers and sellers.
