10 Strongest Supes In The Boys Season 5

[

Caution: spoilers ahead for The Boys season 5.

In The Boys season 5’s battle between Homelander and the Starlighters, power talks. Through the sheer strength of his abilities, Homelander has commandeered both Vought and the United States government, amassing an army of Compound-V subjects under his rule. Fortunately, the good guys have some formidable fighters of their own.

As Prime Video’s series plays out its final chapter, it becomes clear that the supe power ranking has changed dramatically compared to when The Boys first began. Powerful characters like Queen Maeve and Black Noir have fallen, while the likes of Starlight and Ryan have honed their abilities over time. Meanwhile, a few who were regular humans back in The Boys season 1 have since injected themselves with V to gain gifts of their own.

A-Train

When A-Train was struggling to run without collapsing in The Boys season 3, his prospects of cracking any list ranking the show’s strongest supes looked remote. Running was his entire thing, after all. One heart transplant later, A-Train is back to his best, and while he only gets a single episode of The Boys season 5 before reaching his finish line, A-Train’s final episode finds him at peak performance.

Season 5 is when A-Train finally uses his speed to dilate time, saving multiple allies and thwarting Homelander in the blink of an eye. Immediately after, A-Train and Homelander engage in a one-vs-one race, and it’s a contest the speedster would win if he didn’t choose to spare an innocent woman’s life instead.

Kimiko

Kimiko has proven her strength throughout The Boys, and season 5 is no different, putting down Sheline with relative ease. Kimiko’s fighting ability appears more enhanced than the average supe, but what really earns her a spot among the elite is her regeneration. The Boys still hasn’t revealed the limit of her healing ability, truth be told, and that’s if a limit even exists. Season 5 sees Kimiko describe a recent incident where she reassembled herself after various body parts were spread miles apart, while Homelander lasering off Kimiko’s entire lower half is little more than a minor inconvenience.

At this point, only the complete destruction of Kimiko’s brain could potentially finish her off, and even that may not prove enough. It’s entirely possible that the only way to kill Kimiko would be a cheat code like Soldier Boy’s radioactive blast or the supe virus.

8

Cindy

On his road to domination over the United States, Homelander has either killed or scared off many of his most powerful followers. Stragglers like The Deep, Firecracker, and Dogknott flock to their leader because it’s the closest they can get to grandeur. Cindy is a rare exception. Gifted with powers similar to Victoria Neuman and Marie Moreau, Cindy can psychically rip enemies apart in a matter of seconds, and also makes an impressive mess of Stan Edgar’s reinforced front door.

Cindy’s loyalty to Homelander is driven only by some deeply-burning desire to kill. She’s a potent weapon that Homelander merely aims at his foes and releases. A lack of proper training is Cindy’s biggest disadvantage. She thrives on raw power alone, and would be an even more dangerous supe if those mental explosions were refined by practice and expert tuition.

Billy Butcher

Billy Butcher played the Compound-V lottery and won. Mutating the cancer already inside his body from overusing Temp-V, Butcher gained a chest full of tentacles that have proven useful time and time again. From ripping apart fellow supe Victoria Neuman to getting the better of Soldier Boy, Butcher’s chestbursters imbue him with strength in excess of even Kimiko.

Billy Butcher clearly isn’t strong enough to top Homelander, otherwise he’d saunter into Seven Tower, unleash his inner octopus, and rip his nemesis’ head off. Every other member of Homelander’s army, however, would be taken to their limits by the new and even more diabolical Butcher.

6

Starlight

A battle between Starlight and Billy Butcher would be a close-run thing indeed, but Annie edges it due to her versatility. As well as being strong enough to duel hand-to-hand with Black Noir II and break Cindy’s neck, Annie’s light projection is a valuable asset, and has only increased in intensity since The Boys season 3’s finale. Adding high-speed flight to her list of skills hasn’t hurt either, putting another string on a bow that was already impressive enough to earn a place in the Seven.

Of all the supes rallying against Vought in The Boys season 5, Starlight is the one Homelander would expend the most energy killing. Annie’s only real weakness is the problem she’s had since the very beginning: she’s a lot less helpful in a dark room. As Stan Edgar demonstrates, light switches are Annie’s kryptonite, and she can’t even break a locked door without an energy source in the vicinity.

Sister Sage

Strength comes in different forms, and while The Boys has given no indication that Sister Sage possesses any particular combat talents, her intelligence is too big an asset to ignore. Sage was almost singularly responsible for putting Homelander in the White House, and continues her manipulations into The Boys season 5. The endgame remains unclear, but whatever Sister Sage wants to happen is currently happening, and no supe on either side of the divide can compete with her cognitive assault.

Sage’s lack of fighting ability becomes irrelevant because she maneuvers herself into positions where fighting is unnecessary. As long as that remains the case, Sister Sage will stand as one of The Boys‘ strongest supes in season 5, and perhaps even the character with the greatest chance of bringing down Homelander. The limit of Sage’s power depends almost entirely on her imagination and the extent of her own whims.

4

Marie Moreau

While Gen V‘s Marie Moreau broadly possesses the same power as Victoria Neuman and Cindy, her training at Godolkin University, particularly under the tutelage of Thomas Godolkin himself, has seen Marie ascend to a higher level. As part of Project Odessa, Marie hails from the same batch of Compound-V subjects as Homelander, putting her close to The Boys‘ main villain in terms of strength.

By controlling blood, Marie has a number of inventive ways to kill someone: stop their heart, pierce them with blood spears, implode them from within, etc. Given that Homelander’s innards are flesh and blood like anyone else’s, Marie is one of few characters in The Boys‘ universe who could theoretically kill Homelander without resorting to tricks like viruses and radiation. And if any of Marie’s allies should die in battle, she’d have little difficulty slipping the lost blood right back into their body.

3

Ryan Butcher

Ryan may not be as powerful as his old man quite yet, but The Boys has repeatedly hinted at the youngster’s potential to outdo even Homelander. Back in The Boys season 2, Homelander’s eye lasers could only lightly burn Stormfront’s chest, but Ryan sliced through her like soft cheese on a warm day. Then, during their fight in The Boys season 5, Ryan’s blows draw blood, and it’s notable that Homelander starts dodging his son’s laser vision, not keen to take too many blasts head-on.

Ryan has been afforded a fraction of Homelander’s training and is nowhere near as experienced, but the level of strength he’s already demonstrating at this point in The Boys is frightening.

Soldier Boy

Soldier Boy doesn’t have many tricks up his long-tenured sleeve, largely relying on his enhanced strength, durability, and endless pot of stories about celebrity encounters. Thanks to years of scientific experimentation, however, Soldier Boy’s radioactive blasts can burn Compound-V out of any supe opponent’s blood, turning them mortal and melting anything else in his path.

The Boys season 5 affords Soldier Boy another big power boost by revealing he’s one of precious few characters in possession of V-One, the original and most concentrated iteration of Compound-V that only proved successful in a handful of subjects. As a result, Soldier Boy is said to be virtually unkillable, even when dosed with the supe virus.

Homelander

It comes as little surprise, but The Boys‘ big bad, the one and only Homelander, remains the supe to beat in season 5. Unlike some of his opponents, Homelander’s power level has barely moved since The Boys started. In truth, it never needed to. Physically stronger than any of his peers, as fast as A-Train, nigh-on invulnerable to lethal damage, and with eyes that can pierce holes through most other supes, Homelander’s arsenal of abilities is exactly why he’s the danger that must be stopped in The Boys‘ final season.

Homelander is not a smart man, and even with President Calhoun on butler duty, the supe supreme is too obsessed with his own ego and emotional frailties to truly take advantage. As an implement of death and destruction, however, Homelander remains the pinnacle. The fact he resurrects Soldier Boy in The Boys season 5 is proof that, when all is said and done, Homelander knows he could even beat his own father if the need ever arose.
