Mothers’ Day is fast approaching (15th March — if it’s not in your diary, add it now or regret it later) and while no one’s going to grumble about a big bunch of flowers or a potted plant, neither is exactly the most exciting choice of gift. An ideal alternative is a Lego Botanicals set, and especially because there are blooming loads of discounts available right now on a whole range of different options.
Lego’s plant and flower range is now very extensive — so you can pick a classic option like a bouquet of roses or tulips, or branch out with a bonsai or a quirky cactus. For other halves buying a gift on behalf of a child who’s too young to send out to the shops, there are kid-friendly sets that they can spend time building together.
The other great news is that none of these plants need tending to after they’ve been built. So if your mother figure isn’t the best at keeping plants alive, or simply doesn’t need another thing to care for, it’s no problem. I recently discovered that the incredibly long-lasting orchid in my parents’ living room — the subject of much admiration — has in fact died and been surreptitiously replaced several times. I’ll be picking up a Lego version to save my mum from more undercover trips to the garden centre.
