Mark Wahlberg‘s recent filmography has been less than impressive. Frustratingly for fans of Marky Mark, Mel Gibson‘s action thriller Flight Risk, the Prime Video original heist thriller Play Dirty, the action sequel The Family Plan 2, and the FIFA World Cup-timed soccer comedy Balls Upall faced backlash from both audiences and critics. Looking to break this disappointing streak, Wahlberg’s next project will see him team up with the ever-brilliant Riz Ahmed in The Big Fix, a crime thriller directed by Baltasar Kormákur.
Wahlberg will also feature in two other upcoming projects, starring as Gregory Scarpa in Paramount Pictures’ By Any Means, which debuts on September 4, and in Weekend Warriors, a sports comedy drama also featuring the likes of Vera Farmiga, Wood Harris, Mark Linn-Baker, and Yakov Smirnoff. Whilst fans wait for more Wahlberg at the movies, one of his most popular projects of the decade has just hit a huge milestone. The film in question is The Family Plan, which battled mixed reviews to become one of the best-performing Apple TV original movies ever.
Starring Wahlberg opposite Michelle Monaghan, the film follows a lifelong car salesman living a quiet life in the suburbs. However, what his family doesn’t know is that he’s secretly a highly-skilled assassin. Also starring the likes of Zoe Colletti (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark), Saïd Taghmaoui (Three Kings), Van Crosby (Splitting Up Together), Ciarán Hinds (Game of Thrones), and Maggie Q (Ballard), The Family Plan is one of the more exciting films on Apple TV, which has helped it stay relevant three years later. At the time of writing, The Family Plan has officially surpassed the 800-day mark on the Apple TV top ten in the U.S.

Will There Be a ‘Family Plan 3’?
With both The Family Plan and its 2025 sequel proving popular on Apple TV, there’s certainly a demand for a third installment. But will it happen? In a conversation with Collider’s Michael Zimmermann, star Monaghan hinted at how much she’d love to take on The Family Plan 3, saying:
“I would love for there to be a third one. I know that we’d all jump at the chance to do it. I know Mark [Wahlberg] really wants to do it, and I definitely want to do it, and we’ve got some wonderful fans out there that really love that film. And I think what’s so great is that we do make so few of those kinds of movies where you can sit down and watch it with all age groups. It’s very multi-generational, and it applies to a lot of people. We’ve definitely got some ideas for a third one, so hopefully that will come to fruition.”
