If you’re in the market for one of the best Bluetooth speakers on the market, you now have a new model to consider: the TRIBIT PocketGo. The palm-sized speaker is on sale now for a mere $34.99 / £29.99 (with availability in Australia still to be confirmed).
With dimensions of 108 mm x 81 mm x 42 mm (4.3 inches x 3.2 inches x 1.7 inches) and a rugged, waterproof design, the speaker this reminds us of most is the JBL Go 4 – even down to the hanging loop on the corner.
Despite its diminutive size, TRIBIT is promising big sound from the PocketGo: its 45 mm driver and 7W audio output are apparently enough to deliver a “mighty sound”, with a maximum connection range of 50 meters (over 164 feet).
It’s very much designed to go anywhere, tipping the scales at 220 grams (7.8 ounces), IP68 protection against water and dust, and a drop-proof rating of 1.22 meters (that’s 4 feet). It’s not a speaker you need to handle gently.
Battery life and more features
For a portable speaker like this, battery life is key. TRIBIT claims the PocketGo can last for up to 20 hours if you’re playing audio at 50% volume. It has a 2,400 mAh capacity battery built in, with a full charge taking around three hours over USB.
Other features you need to know about include the integrated memory card reader for offline music playback, True Wireless Stereo (TWS) support so you can pair two of these for stereo sound, and voice control via a built-in microphone.
It supports the latest Bluetooth 6.0 standard for improved audio quality and connection stability, and it’ll even float if you put it in the pool – so it’s perfect for blasting out some tunes on a lazy day on vacation.
Of course, as we haven’t tested it ourselves, we can’t comment on the sound quality – but on paper at least, this sounds worth a look for your next portable speaker. The price is especially appealing, undercutting a lot of its direct rivals.
