(TYO:) added 5.89% or 145.50 points to end at 2,615.00 and Kansai Electric Power Co Inc (TYO:) was up 5.50% or 150.00 points to 2,877.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lasertec Corp (TYO:), which fell 3.19% or 1,390.00 points to trade at 42,220.00 at the close. Sharp Corp (TYO:) declined 2.86% or 27.20 points to end at 924.70 and Bandai Namco Holdings Inc (TYO:) was down 2.82% or 84.50 points to 2,915.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1917 to 1656 and 296 ended unchanged.

USD/JPY was down 0.00% to 156.85, while EUR/JPY rose 0.13% to 170.62.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 104.38.
