The Fitbit Charge 6 is back down to its lowest ever price – and I can’t recommend it enough after a family health scare

The Fitbit Charge 6 is a great fitness tracker packing on-board GPS and exercise guidance, and is suitable for habitual runners, cyclists, gym-goers, and active people in general. However, with its sleep tracking, ECG functionality, and Irregular Rhythm Notifications feature, it’s a good wellness tracker and a great early warning health system too.

Right now, it’s on offer in the Black Friday deals, matching its lowest-ever price. In the US, the Fitbit Charge 6 is available on Amazon for $99.95 (was $159.95), while in the UK, it’s also available for £98 on Amazon (was £139). As a fitness tracker expert, I can 100% recommend getting it in the Black Friday deals at this price, especially if you’re buying it as a wellness tracker.

I gifted an older family member a Fitbit Charge 6 a few years ago. My family member had heart trouble that we knew about, and was looking to build up strength and cardio fitness, as well as monitor their overall health.

However, a few months after getting the device, its Irregular Rhythm Notifications kicked in, alerting my family member that their heart rate was all over the place and prompting them to call emergency services.

Minutes after arriving at the hospital, they were rushed to intensive care. The Irregular Rhythm notification may well have saved their life. Now out of the hospital, they’ve continued to use the Fitbit’s ECG and sleep tracking functionalities to closely monitor their health, as well as track workouts to build that fitness functionality back up.

The Fitbit Charge 4 and the Fitbit app

It’s a really simple device to operate, with a touch screen and haptic sensor on the side in lieu of a button, and minimal interaction on the band: a lot of key metrics are viewed and used via the app.

Combined with its wellness metrics, step counter, and week-long battery life, it makes it an ideal fitness tracker for seniors. Some older adults (and some younger ones, like me) might not want a smartwatch like an Apple Watch that needs charging every other day, or a large screen that offers lots of different functionality. Instead, they might want a set-and-forget automatic health tracker. The Fitbit Charge 6 is that tracker.
