Is John Cena going out with a bang or a whimper? Survivor Series: WarGames may be the penultimate – and biggest remaining – stop on his farewell tour, but his decision to grant Dominik Mysterio a WWE Intercontinental Championship rematch in his hometown of San Diego is fraught with danger. It was at Raw in Boston, Cena’s own backyard, that the Hall of Famer won the title for the first time, and something tells us there’ll be at least one further bump in the road.
Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul’s victory over the Usos has earned The Vision the WarGames advantage, which should serve as a warning to the all-stars. The duo will have the backing of Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Brock Lesnar and, of course, Paul Heyman. It’s the most loaded match in WarGames history.
The (relative) peace between Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair clearly has a rapidly approaching sell-by date too, so the question is whether it collapses before or after the women’s WarGames match. They’ll have women’s tag team champions Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair as teammates at Petco Park, plus Iyo Sky and AJ Lee. Expect Kabuki Warriors Asuka and Kairi Sane to make a beeline for Ripley and Sky, and keep an eye out for Becky Lynch, who’s on an unstoppable run right now.
The fallout between Stephanie Vaquer and Nikki Bella underpins the women’s world championship match, with Bella hoping her villainous turn pays off with a big prize on the line.
