The answers to today’s Strands, game #637, are…
- LIONS
- ANTS
- GEESE
- COWS
- PRIDE
- FLOCK
- ARMY
- HERD
- SPANGRAM:INITTOGETHER
- My rating: Hard

It was not until I’d completed the list of animals that I realized this was a pairs game, with one half of the search matching the other.
All very clever – but this was not a game without its frustrations. I needed a hint to get going and struggled to see the spangram until the very end of the game.
No matter, as I got there in the end. Plus the inclusion of the word GEESE prompted me to play my favorite song of the year, Taxes, by the band of the same name. It’s magnificent. I’d like to think that secretly that was the whole reason for today’s search.
Yesterday’s NYT Strands answers (Saturday, November 29, game #636)
- WHEEL
- PULLEY
- AXEL
- SCREW
- LEVER
- WEDGE
- PLANE
- SPANGRAM: SIMPLEMACHINE
