Euphoria season 3 just got its first trailer, but we’ll have to wait a little while before HBO Max drops the first episode on April 12. Thankfully, there’s some similar shows to watch while you wait.
I’ve been on the hunt for shows with similar vibes to Euphoria season 3, so you can find your next binge worthy drama series. Better yet, they’re all available on HBO Max, so you don’t have to sign up to all the best streaming services to find your next fix.
We Are Who We Are
Creators: Luca Guadagnino, Paolo Giordano, Francesca Manieri, Sean Conway
Cast: Chloë Sevigny, Jack Dylan Grazer, Alice Braga, Jordan Kristine Seamón, Spence Moore II, Francesca Scorsese
Seasons: 1
Age Rating: TV-MA
Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino is among the creators of this HBO miniseries, so you know it’s going to be good. Here, he collaborates with three other creatives to tell the story of two American teenagers who live on a fictional US military base in Italy.
The series explores themes of friendship, first love and identity. It doesn’t hold back as it showcases all the highs and lows of being a teenager. Since it’s a miniseries, it’s an easy binge watch too so you’ve got a great excuse to cancel your plans this week.
Girls
Creator: Lena Dunham
Cast: Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, Adam Driver, Alex Karpovsky
Seasons: 6
Age Rating: TV-MA
If you want something more long-running, all six seasons of Girls are available on HBO Max. Created by and starring Lena Dunham, the series follows four young women living in New York City.
Dunham plays Hannah, an aspiring writer who is trying to navigate her twenties without the financial support of her parents. She’s joined by her roommate Marnie (Allison Williams), close friend Jessa (Jemima Kirke), and Jessa’s cousin Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet). Over the six seasons, we follow their personal lives, growth and relationships.
Adam Driver also stars as Adam Sackler, who has a casual relationship with Hannah. It actually marks his first major television role, having starred in 49 episodes of Girls.
Gossip Girl
Creator: Joshua Safran
Cast: Jordan Alexander, Whitney Peak, Tavi Gevinson, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty
Seasons: 2
Age Rating: TV-MA
The 2021 Gossip Girl remake is also worth your time despite the mixed critical reviews. If you enjoyed Euphoria, I think you’ll have a great time with this follow up to the iconic first Gossip Girl series.
Set a decade after the original series, social media and New York City may have changed, but it’s the same premise: a group of Manhattan private schoolers find themselves under the watchful eye of an anonymous blogger.
Even though it was canceled after season 2, the episodes we do have are a solid follow up to the original Gossip Girl.
