The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold was released, and just like that, it promptly sold out in under an hour at the official Samsung site. Even with a hefty price tag of $2,899, people lined up for the world’s first tri-screen phone.
If you already have a Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, then congratulations, you are one of the lucky few. The rest of us? Not so lucky. In fact, it looks like quite a few people have been left out in the cold with this one.
Will the Galaxy Z TriFold get restocked?
There are no solid estimations for Galaxy TriFold restocks
As of writing, there are no solid estimations for the Galaxy TriFold restocks. The official site does confirm that the phone will be restocked at some point, it just doesn’t give an actual date or indication. I imagine that will be the case for a few weeks at the very least, based on similar product launches.
For now, there are two things you can do. Firstly, you can sign up for notifications via the official Samsung site for email and text alerts. Secondly, if you’re near an actual physical Samsung retail store, you can call-in or make a visit to see if they have any phones still in stock. It might be an outside bet, but I have read a few reports of people being able to get a phone via this method, so it’s definitely worth trying.
What I’d buy instead
Honestly? I’d probably go for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. It’s not the TriFold, but it is the closest phone in terms of user experience and specs. You’re certainly not ‘settling’ for a device here, because the Fold 7 is easily one of the best phones you can buy right now.
As a brief overview, the Fold 7 and the TriFold share the same chipset and camera, so they are very, very similar. The Fold 7 has an eight-inch screen versus the TriFold’s 10-inch main display, so while it is smaller, it’s pretty damn big for things like S-Pen support or tablet-like applications.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 also has the distinct benefit of being way, way cheaper than the TriFold. Unlike on the new device, excellent deals are readily available on the Fold 7, which, in some cases, can make it under half the price. For example, you can currently trade-in for a discount of up to $1,000 on an unlocked device at Samsung, and Amazon also has a record-low price on the 512GB configuration right now.
While we’re on the topic, I think I should also at least mention the obvious solution to the TriFold, which is simply buying a tablet and phone separately. It is, after all, the far cheaper route, and one that you don’t have to wait around for.
There are also several models that we’d recommend on sale currently. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ and Apple iPad Pro 11, for example, are both incredible tablets that are available at record-low prices at Amazon currently. Here are just a few of today’s best deals on models that we’ve actually tested and recommend at TechRadar:
