Speaking to Deadline, Walsh said: “The response from readers around the world has been overwhelming, and knowing that everyone behind this production and book shares my passion for telling this story authentically means the world to me.”
So, when can we expect Boys of Tommen to arrive on Prime Video? Well, there’s lots to discuss of Johnny and Shannon’s tumultuous story from release date prediction, trailer, predicted cast, news, rumors and more.
Boys of Tommen: release date prediction
The Boys of Tommen TV adaptation for Prime Video was officially announced in February with the streamer revealing the front page of episode one’s script on Instagram.
So, we know it’s being written by Poppy Cogan (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder), but we don’t quite know when it’ll be released just yet. But, as per Deadline, it seems production is slated to start this year, which would mean the show could hit Prime Video as early as 2027. We’ll keep our ears open for any news and update here as soon as we hear.
Boys of Tommen trailer: is there one?
Whilst production will reportedly begin later this year, there’s no sign of a Boys of Tommen trailer just yet. As with any show on a big streamer, the trailer usually arrives a month or so before the premiere. As such, we imagine we imagine we won’t see a trailer until at least 2027.
Boys of Tommen season 2 confirmed cast
I need the casting directors for boys of tommen with prime to book a flight to ireland stat and cast some homegrown talentFebruary 11, 2026
Right now, there’s no confirmed or predicted cast for Boys of Tommen though we imagine the first focus will be on finding the Johnny Kavanagh and Shannon Lynch of the TV adaptation considering they’re the main protagonists of Walsh’s first two books.
Over on Twitter/X, Boys of Tommen fans are voicing their concern around the casting, though as seen above, @amikagott is just keen for the casting directors to head to Ireland, where the books are set, to hire “homegrown talent”. We’ll get into more about Johnny and Shannon’s roles in the plot details below.
Boys of Tommen plot details & rumors
It has been revealed that Boys of Tommen season 1 will be based around the first two books of Walsh’s series, Binding 13 and Keeping 13.
The official plot synopsis of which has been revealed by Prime Video: “It follows the forbidden love story of Johnny Kavanagh, the star rugby player on the verge of a pro career and Shannon Lynch, the talented but painfully shy new girl at the prestigious Tommen College in Ballylaggin, Ireland.
“Both teens are hiding secrets; Johnny, a potentially devastating injury and Shannon, a troubled and violent homelife. Through their secret and highly charged connection, the two teens from opposite worlds battle against the odds and find a way to save each other.”
Without giving too much away, the first two books follow Johnny and Shannon’s complicated relationship as they navigate some incredibly serious situations. And while you could get all the plot details about the first season by reading both of these books, it’s entirely up to you.
But, the decision to bring Boys of Tommen to Prime Video seems like it was an easy one, with exec Nicole Clemens telling Deadline: “It’s just an unbelievable constellation of characters, but it’s also got such a specificity for place and the time. It talks about abuse, about bullying, about mental health, and it’s about love. It’s a romance series.”
Will there be more seasons of Boys of Tommen?

We know that Boys of Tommen season 1 will follow the first two books of Chloe Walsh’s six-book series, but that means we also know there’s four other books to use as source material for later seasons.
And, as illustrated by a fan on Twitter/X, there’s a lot of characters and a lot of complicated webs connecting them all.
When speaking to Deadline, Clemens said: “Who knows how many we do, but hopefully it goes for a long time. There’s plenty of material and plenty of incredible, rich characters.”
In the third and fourth book, the focus turns to Joey Lynch and Aoife Molloy. In the fifth book, Gibsie and Claire, and in the sixth book, Lizzie and Hugh. And there’s even rumors circulating around a seventh book in the series, so there’s plenty of scope for more on Prime Video. I imagine we won’t hear anymore until the streamer sees how it performs once it’s released, but we’ll be sure to update here when we do.
