What is so special about the 17th at TPC Sawgrass?
One of the most picturesque holes in golf, the 17th features the tee, the green and a bucketload of water in between.
It’s a par three, with the tee shot over a lake (no ‘fairway’ here) to an island green almost entirely surrounded by water.
For the pros, it’s not technically that hard a shot, but they’ve got to stick it on the green and the sound of oohs from the gallery as a ball trickles inexorably into the drink is one of the finest sounds in golf.
