Silo season 3 will premiere on Apple TV in 2026, which seemingly gives the streaming service the perfect opportunity to fix the show’s biggest release issue.
While Silo season 3 surprisingly does not have a fixed release date yet, Rebecca Ferguson has confirmed that it will land on Apple TV in Summer 2026 itself. This confirmation is relieving because it promises that we will get to see the post-apocalyptic show soon after waiting for a long time. What makes it even more fascinating is that it promises a better future for the Apple TV sci-fi franchise.
It may be too soon to foresee how Silo‘s next two installments will turn out. However, its imminent release in 2026 suggests that Apple TV is on the right path to fix its major streaming problem.
Silo Has Taken A While To Return After Season 2, But Its Season 4 Will Likely Come Out Sooner
An official release date or window for Silo is yet to be announced. However, Rebecca Ferguson recently confirmed (via TODAY) that the show will return in Summer 2026. This news comes in the wake of Silo season 4 wrapping its filming, which had commenced right after season 3 had finished its principal photography.
Instead of only renewing Silo for one more season and waiting to see how it will perform, Apple TV had renewed the show for seasons 3 and 4. Season 4 marks the end of the sci-fi series run, and it was shot back-to-back after season 3.
Since Silo season 2 ended its run in January 2025, the show is taking almost a year and a half to return with its next installment. Long gaps between seasons are not unheard of in the streaming era. However, for a show like Silo, that is jam-packed with many mysteries, extended waiting periods between seasons can cause more harm than good.
Going into the next installment, viewers might forget many crucial developments from the previous seasons, which could negatively impact the show’s narrative momentum. Fortunately, since Silo season 4 has also been filmed, viewers will not have to wait too long for it to come out.
Silo season 3 does not have a confirmed release date, but if it gets an early-summer release this year, season 4 could even premiere by the end of 2026 or in the first quarter of 2027. Hopefully, Apple TV will take this opportunity to fix the show’s release schedule and ensure that viewers are able to walk into the series’ finally installment without feeling the weight of long delays.
Silo Cannot Afford To Leave A Long Gap Between Seasons 3 & 4
Silo season 2’s ending roughly aligns with the conclusive arcs of the first book, Wool, in Hugh Howey’s original trilogy. While the show will likely introduce many structural changes to the original Silo books’ story, its remaining two installments have to cover beats from both Shift and Dust. In both books, the overarching story reveals everything from the origins of the titular silos to the identities of the people who secretly pull all the strings from behind the scenes.
Unlike Hugh Howey’s Shift, Silo season 3 will not primarily unfold in the past. Instead, it will likely go back and forth between the past and the present timelines to walk through both the origins of the silos and the ongiong political drama in Silo 18.
These revelations ultimately set the stage for a final pay off that connects all dots and brings the series’ central mysteries full circle. Since both books are packed with so many developments, the Apple TV sci-fi show‘s seasons 3 and 4 will also be packed with shifting timelines and growing conflicts. Owing to this, the series cannot afford to leave long gaps between the upcoming installments.
It must ensure that going into season 4, it leverages season 3’s solid momentum to keep viewers well invested. From the looks of it, Apple TV’s Silo will manage to achieve this since season 4 has already been shot and season 3’s release is on the horizon.
