During 2023’s Brighton Marathon, I used the watch’s virtual pacing feature to ensure I stayed on pace to hit my goal (well, as much as possible, as I was five minutes too slow due to a pit-stop around mile 12). I used it to monitor my heart rate zones, relaxing my effort a little based on whether I was cresting from the orange zone into the red, strenuous effort territory. During training, I used it to monitor my recovery, helping me to tailor my plan so I was race-ready in time for my long runs.
