ABC’s ‘9-1-1’ Just Had Its Biggest Week Ever

[

After 9 hit seasons and the debut of a brand-new spin-off, ABC‘s 9-1-1 appears to be just as popular as ever, and its recent shattering of some impressive viewership records is proof of that. Starring Angela Bassett as Athena Grant and co-created by TV guru Ryan Murphy, 9-1-1 was an instant success for ABC when it first debuted in 2018, becoming one of the most popular police procedurals on a network that’s already chock full of them, with the likes of High Potential and The Rookie. The show has dealt with everything from common house fires to meteors from outer space, and now it’s reaping the rewards of its conquest of such disasters.

According to Nielsen, 9-1-1 just had one of its biggest weeks ever, with Season 9 of the series hitting a new high of 4.8 million live and same-day viewers during the show’s most recent episode drop on March 26. If that weren’t already impressive enough, 9-1-1 is sharing the wealth with its brand-new spin-off series, 9-1-1: Nashville, which also broke its own viewership record for Season 1 in the wake of fan skepticism following the divisive cancellation of the franchise’s first spin-off, 9-1-1: Lone Star. Nashville, which debuts new episodes immediately after 9-1-1 on ABC Thursdays, came in just under the flagship show with 4.02 million views on March 26.

The next episodes of both 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Nashville debut tonight on ABC, as both shows near the finales of their ninth and first seasons, respectively. 9-1-1‘s next episode has the emergency team at Station 118 become the subject of a tricky internal investigation, where series fan-favorite Buck (Oliver Stark) anxiously awaits whether he’ll be able to continue his job as a firefighter. Meanwhile, things are just as chaotic in 9-1-1: Nashville, where the feud between Blue (Hunter McVey) and Dixie (LeAnn Rhimes) intensifies as an unusual murder investigation begins to take shape.
