Fans are on the edge of their seats as we approach the season 2 finale of Apple TV’s The Last Thing He Told Me. Based on the sequel novel by Laura Dave, The First Time I Saw Him, the plot picks up five years after Hannah (Jennifer Garner) and Bailey (Angourice Rice) had to adjust to a new life without Owen (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). This season also introduced viewers to new characters, including the mysterious Quinn (Judy Greer).
For those who have read the book, they’ve been familiar with Quinn from the start. So, is she actually one of the good guys, or are her phone calls with the Campano family a sign of trouble for Hannah and Bailey?
Here, Hollywood Life unpacks the complicated character Quinn from The Last Thing He Told Me.
Who Is Quinn in The Last Thing He Told Me?
Judy’s character, Quinn, is the daughter of Frank Campano, a.k.a. the crime boss responsible for the chaos. But she actually has a past with Bailey’s late mother, Katherine Smith; the two were best friends before Katherine died.

Is Quinn Good or Bad in The Last Thing He Told Me? Book vs Show
If you’ve already read The First Time I Saw Him, you’d already know that Quinn is an important antagonist. In the sequel novel, Quinn is protective of her family, though she never intends to inherit her father’s empire.
In the show, however, Quinn initially insists to Bailey that she does not have a relationship with the Campanos. Almost immediately, Bailey trusts Quinn and meets with her multiple times to learn the truth about her late mom’s death. As fans approach the season 2 finale, it’s only a matter of time before they learn what the creative team has in store when it comes to Quinn.
As for Judy, the 13 Going on 30 star admitted that it’s “challenging to play someone who has a lot of secrets” during an exclusive interview with Hollywood Life.
“I think it is challenging when I also want to ground Quinn, and that’s just Judy talking. Like, it’s important for me for this woman to be a human being,” Judy noted. And, rather than playing Quinn as an “evil villain,” Judy explained why she had “compassion” for her character.
“What I really wanted to find was a push-pull with how badly she wanted to have a relationship with Bailey,” Judt continued. “I think that Quinn, in a different version of Owen/Ethan, Bailey/Kristen, would have been a really major part of Bailey’s life.”
Is There a Season 3 of The Last Thing He Told Me?
At the time of publication, Apple TV has yet to renew the series for a third season. Since Laura’s 2026 novel, The First Time I Saw Him, was the basis for season 2, it’s unclear how Apple TV would move forward with a season 3.
During a separate interview with Hollywood Life ahead of the season 2 premiere, Judy recalled how it felt joining the cast, comparing it to “marrying into the greatest family and not wanting to mess it up, and not wanting to get kicked out of the family.” Since she worked with Jennifer in the past on 13 Going on 30, the Halloween star also reflected on their reunion.
“Working with Jen is great because I love her as an actress,” Judy noted. “Obviously, we’re good friends; it’s really nice to get paid to hang out with people that you love.”
