Breath Of The Wild PC “Remaster” Isn’t What Fans Want

[

The Legend of Zelda is celebrating its 40th birthday as an IP, franchise, and series, and it’s safe to say that it has come a very long way over the laast four decades, bringing some of the most memorable playing experiences of all time to its legion of fans.

Your own personal favorite will likely depend on what came out at the right time for you as a younger player, whether that be Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker or one of the many other myriad high points in the series so far.

That said, most agree that the open-world era heralded in by Breath of the Wild, and so ably continued by Tears of the Kingdom, has been a real peak period, but those experiences are still only really available to Switch players. That said, some very clever minds have got the first game running on PC, but fans really aren’t too pleased with the results.

Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Running On PC Just Isn’t It

Over on Twitter/X, the user VideoArtGame shared footage of Breath of the Wild running on PC, and it’s safe to say that fans weren’t exactly happy with what they saw in the footage.

“Insanely bad. Completely ruined the art direction with overly post processing,” one post read.

“I can confirm that BOTW looks pretty great if your PC can run it. In fact, it looks about as good as it does on Switch 2,” another added, sarcastically.

“Wow you ruined the games art style so much with shaders and res increases. My phone can’t even process the video properly,” a third said.

In all fairness, an official PC version of the game would probably be pretty incredible if it had the backing of a studio with the resources that Nintendo has. That said, the Switch 2 version really is pretty flawless, so we’ll certainly be fine sticking to the original platform for now.

Zelda’s 40th Anniversary Could Be Huge For The Series

The 40th anniversary celebrations are almost certainly going to be pretty big for fans around the world. We’ll definitely be getting a better look at the upcoming film adaptation, as well as potentially more additions to the Switch Online catalog and a dedicated Direct that lays out the developers plans for the next year or two.

The latter may well contain the long-rumored remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, or even ports of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. We can certainly continue living in hope for now, though.
