“Project Hail Mary” rose to the top position at the South Korean box office during the weekend of Apr. 3–05, 2026. According to data from KOBIS, the tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council, the film earned $2.4 million from 328,750 admissions, capturing a 39.56% revenue share. Since its Mar. 18 debut, the film, starring Ryan Gosling, has reached a cumulative gross of $12.2 million.
“The King’s Warden” moved to second place but continued its historic run by crossing the $100 million revenue milestone. The historical drama added $1.7 million over the weekend, bringing its unprecedented cumulative gross to $103.1 million. With 270,272 admissions over the three-day period, the film’s total attendance now stands at 16,091,712. It is currently fewer than 170,000 admissions away from overtaking the 2019 comedy “Extreme Job” (16.26 million) to become the second most-watched film in South Korean history.
The local crime-action comedy “The Ultimate Duo” debuted in third place, earning $263,270 over the weekend. Directed by Park Cheol-hwan and starring Bae Sung-woo and Jung Ga-ram, the film follows an unlikely partnership between a veteran detective demoted to a rural station and a wealthy influencer-turned-rookie cop. The pair embarks on an unauthorized investigation that leads them from a petty church theft to a high-stakes murder case in Gangnam. Since its Apr. 2 release, it has grossed $349,149.
The Japanese romantic drama “The Last Song You Left Behind” opened in fourth place with $257,847. Directed by Miki Takahiro and based on the novel by Ichijo Misaki, the film stars Michieda Shunsuke and Nukumi Meru as two musicians whose bond is forged through music and poetry over many years. Since its Apr. 1 launch, it has earned $371,666.
“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle Arc” saw a significant jump in revenue to fifth place, earning $293,306 over the weekend despite a limited screen count. The film’s cumulative South Korean gross has now reached $41.4 million.
Pixar’s “Hoppers” took sixth place, adding $147,399 to bring its total to $4.8 million. It was followed in seventh by the local horror-thriller “Salmokji : Whispering Water,” which earned $126,297 from pre-release screenings. Directed by Lee Sang-min and starring Kim Hye-yoon and Lee Jong-won, the film follows a filming crew that experiences supernatural phenomena at a remote reservoir. It is scheduled for wide release on Apr. 8.
The Japanese animated feature “Detective Conan the Movie: The Last Wizard of the Century” took eighth place, adding $100,633 for a total of $554,540.
Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair” debuted in ninth place, earning $90,592 over the weekend for a total of $152,036. Rounding out the top 10 was the French animated adventure “Pets on a Train,” which added $31,921 to bring its cumulative total to $92,963.
The overall market collective gross for the weekend was $5.8 million, down from last week’s $7.9 million.
