EXCLUSIVE: In a competitive situation, Anonymous Content has signed Cypriot filmmaker Myrsini Aristidou for representation.
Aristidou comes to Anonymous after premiering her debut feature, Hold Onto Me (Κράτα Με), in Sundance’s World Cinema Dramatic Competition, where it won the Audience Award. A co-production between Cyprus, Greece, and Denmark, made in participation with the U.S., the film follows an 11-year-old girl, Iris, who learns that her estranged father is in town for his own father’s funeral and wants to reconnect.
Aristidou’s debut short film, Semele, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2015. The film was screened at 70 festivals worldwide and won the Special Jury Prize in the Generation Kplus section at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2016.
In 2017, Aristidou premiered her follow-up short, Aria, at the Venice Film Festival. That film was made with the support of Spike Lee, Canal+ France, and CNC, and later screened at the Sundance Film Festival.
Aristidou holds an MFA in Film Directing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and a BFA in Film and Art History from Pratt Institute. Alongside her filmmaking career, she founded One Six One Films and co-founded the Sagapo Children’s Foundation.
Aristidou continues to be represented by UTA.
