Warner Bros. is packing the schedule with major titles over the next few years.
The iconic movie studio, which is currently in negotiations to merge with Paramount Skydance, recently had an unprecedented run of theatrical hits, breaking the records for the most consecutive movies from a single studio to debut with more than $40 million. The movies in question were A Minecraft Movie, Sinners, Final Destination Bloodlines, F1 The Movie, 2025’s Superman, Weapons, and The Conjuring: Last Rites. They also had the most consecutive movies to debut at No. 1, keeping that streak alive with their follow-up releases One Battle After Another and Wuthering Heights.
During CinemaCon, the annual convention for theater exhibitors, Warner Bros. announced the official release dates for a wide variety of their 2027 and 2028 titles. In addition to the new Ocean’s movie and upcoming movies from directors Zach Cregger and Baz Luhrmann, this includes quite a few new installments in major horror franchises, such as Final Destination 7, the Weapons prequel Gladys, and the sequel to the Conjuring-adjacent horror movie The Curse of La Llorona. Below, see a breakdown of the movies in question:

The Revenge of La Llorona, which stars Monica Raymund and Jay Hernandez, will now officially debut almost exactly eight years after the original installment premiered on April 19, 2019. This marks the longest gap between the first and second installments in any subfranchise in The Conjuring Universe.
Meanwhile, the Margot Robbie-led Ocean’s prequel, which is the only other 2027 movie in the announcement, has been set to land smack-dab in the middle of the 2027 summer movie season. While the full schedule for the year has not been revealed yet, the heist movie prequel will be debuting the week after Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, two weeks after the live-action How to Train Your Dragon 2, and the week before Shrek 5.
Warner Bros.’ newly announced 2028 movies are skirting the summer season, however. The upcoming Final Destination 7 will still have fierce competition, though, as other releases that month include an untitled Marvel feature, the Radio Silence Mummy movie (featuring the return of Brendan Fraser), and the live-action Lilo & Stitch 2. Weapons director Zach Cregger’s new thriller The Flood has a quieter month as summer winds down, only facing off against one slated August release so far, which is an untitled Disney movie.
Their next two offerings have been given release dates that indicate exactly what audiences they’re meant to be playing toward. Gladys, which follows the younger years of the sinister Aunt Gladys (played in Weapons by Amy Madigan, who won an Oscar for her performance) is set to come in September, which has recently become fertile ground for horror movies. Horror tends to do well during the lead-up to Halloween on October 31 and crash in early November, which has led to September becoming the go-to month for splashy horror title.
Warner Bros.‘ upcoming Baz Luhrmann movie, on the other hand, is being given a cushy position in the middle of awards season, which could mean that they anticipate it to be a major player at the 2029 Academy Awards. This is hardly a surprise, considering the fact that every Luhrmann movie since 1996’s Romeo + Juliet has been nominated for at least one Oscar, with 2001’s Moulin Rouge! and 2013’s The Great Gatsby winning two apiece.
