“MasterChef” Australia is set to get a sprinkle of royal stardust. Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, will appear as a guest judge on the long-running cooking show.
“‘MasterChef Australia’ is renowned for creating culinary legends, and today, a passionate foodie with global influence graced the kitchen,” trills the press release.
She will appear alongside the regular roster of judges, comprised of Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli for the show’s eighteenth season. The series returns on April 19 in Australia on Network 10 and 10 Streaming. Oher guest judges on this season of “MasterChef Australia” include Maggie Beer, Curtis Stone and Rick Stein.
The news of Meghan’s cameo comes as part of her current trip to Australia alongside husband Prince Harry, where she is understood to be doing a meet and greet at a “girls’ weekend” retreat in Sydney, with tickets costing up to $3,000, alongside some charitable appearances. It is Meghan’s first visit to the country since 2018.
The duchess has long described herself as a foodie, releasing a charity cookbook in 2018. Her Netflix series “With Love, Meghan” featured her whipping up a variety of dishes in the kitchen alongside friends and mentors. She has also released a lifestyle range, titled “As Ever,” which includes a number of pre-made cookie and pancake mixes as well as honeys, fruit spreads and wine. “With Love, Meghan” ran for two seasons but was not renewed in full after what has been described as “lacklustre” ratings.
