Rosamund Pike has starred in plenty of movies and TV shows over the years, but perhaps none have accrued the same following as The Wheel of Time. The Prime Video original fantasy series premiered all the way back in 2021, and it ran for three full seasons before being canceled ahead of Season 4, which both fans and creatives were expecting to be announced. The cancellation came as such a surprise that fans banded together to start a petition to save the series, which amassed thousands of signatures in the first few weeks it was live. Prime Video’s response to this was not only to further double down on the cancellation but also to confirm that the show was not being shopped around, effectively eliminating the chances of any revival.
Pike has since moved on from The Wheel of Time, though, and is set to star in other projects this year, like In The Grey. The action-adventure thriller was written and directed by Guy Ritchie, and it features other big stars like Henry Cavill and Eiza González. This morning, Netflix unveiled the first official trailer for what’s set to be Pike’s next project after In The Grey, which is Ladies First, the new comedy that will begin streaming on May 22. The film co-stars Sacha Baron Cohen, who previously made his long-awaited Marvel debut as Mephisto in the MCU Disney+ series, Ironheart. The film was directed by Thea Sharrock with a script from Natalie Krinsky, Cinco Paul, and Katie Silberman, and it’s a remake of the Netflix film Je Ne Suis Pas Un Homme Facile.
What Is ‘Ladies First’ About?
The official synopsis for Ladies First, starring Rosamund Pike and Sacha Baron Cohen, reads as follows:
“Damien Sachs (Sacha Baron Cohen) seemingly has it all: money, power, and a never-ending stream of casual flings. As he prepares to ascend to the role of CEO at a leading advertising agency, his life is turned upside down when he wakes up in his worst nightmare: a parallel world dominated by women. Where he once ruled the boardroom, he now finds himself humbled and going head-to-head with the newly fierce and fearless Alex Fox (Rosamund Pike). With the rules of engagement changed and Alex at the top of her game, the two boldly battle it out in a comedy about what happens when the script is flipped.”
