2026 has already been a big year for Prime Video, and it’s only going to improve when the long-awaited fourth season of Alan Ritchson’s Reacher begins streaming. Ritchson has become one of the biggest stars in the world during his tenure as Lee Child’s towering action hero, and it has helped Reacher become one of the biggest shows in the world. Prime Video has released plenty of other projects this year, though, including The Wrecking Crew (starring Jason Momoa) and The Bluff (starring Karl Urban), two films that spent weeks atop streaming charts. The biggest new TV releases thus far for Prime Video in 2026 are both happening right now with Invincible and The Boys. The former is an animated superhero show nearing the end of its fourth season, and the latter is a live-action superhero series with only five episodes remaining before it goes off the air forever.
One of the most popular Prime Video shows to emerge in the last few years is Cross, the new Aldis Hodge-led hard-boiled detective thriller that’s aired two full seasons since its premiere at the end of 2024. Cross is based on the series of mystery novels by acclaimed author James Patterson, and it isn’t the first time that his work has been adapted to the screen — Morgan Freeman previously played the character. Almost exactly one month ago today, Prime Video announced that Cross had been renewed for Season 3. This wasn’t much of a surprise, considering the show’s second season did so well, but it was still warming news nonetheless. This afternoon, news broke that Ethan Embry, famed for his work in Scream 7 and That Thing You Do, has joined the cast of Cross Season 3 as Frederick, a charismatic sobriety coach known for leading with tough love.
