For All Mankind’s Biggest Villain Is Officially Back

[

Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for For All Mankind season 5, episode 4.For All Mankind season 5 has now confirmed the return of one of the most monstrous characters to ever appear on the show. In general, For All Mankind is more concerned with exploring the depths of space and pushing the limits on what can be achieved through human creativity and innovation than melodramatic villains.

However, that doesn’t mean that the show hasn’t introduced a few nefarious characters throughout the 5-season run. Initially, these characters may have been opposed to missions to space, or they were simply conflicted figures who created dangerous situations due to their own incompetence. But one character in particular stood out as a profoundly evil human being.

Irina Morozova Is Coming Back In For All Mankind Season 5

Irina Morozova was introduced in For All Mankind season 4, but her impact has been felt in the show from much further back. Initially, Irina appeared to be a character who gave Margo Madison a much-needed lifeline during her time in the Soviet Union, bringing her in to assist with space missions while her peers were reluctant to include Margo in any operations.

Ultimately, the relationship between Margo and Irina soured after Margo betrayed her, and cleared the way for rebels on Mars to steal an asteroid. Now, Irina has been confirmed to return after Aleida Rosales sees a picture of the delegates who are due to arrive on the Mars base in the coming days. But of course, Aleida’s close relationship with Margo, and her awareness of Irina’s past, is likely to complicate the reunion between these characters.

Irina Morozova Has Been Behind Some Of The Most Heinous Incidents In For All Mankind

Sergei lies on the floor of his hotel room, a gun in his hand

While Irina positioned herself as a friend to Margo Madison while she was a refugee in the Soviet Union, it was later revealed that Irina had been lying to her from the beginning. Before Roscosmos, Irina was actually a high-ranking member of the KGB, and the handler who worked with Sergei Nikulov to manipulate Margo into giving away trade secrets for years.

Upon discovering the truth about Irina’s long-standing manipulation of Margo and her romantic flame, Sergei, Margo chose to rebel against Irina, and attempted to run away from the regime that now controlled her life. Sergei offered to help Margo escape, but unfortunately, Irina’s intelligence intercepted their plans, and she had Sergei murdered in a hotel room where he hoped to reunite with Margo.

Evidently, Irina is dangerous and manipulative, and her agendas are difficult to determine. Her powerful position in the Soviet Union provides her with incredible access, but she only has allegiance to her country, and is willing to go to extreme lengths to achieve whatever goals she believes will return the most benefit.

What Irina’s Return Could Mean For Mars

Irina Morozova is a cold, calculating monster who knows how to play others and is more than willing to get her hands dirty. While For All Mankind season 5 has been seeing some conflict brewing between the authorities on Mars and the workers, Irina’s arrival almost guarantees a fight will break out.

It’s also clear that despite the Soviet Union being a part of the joint Earth delegation which controls Mars and its interests, the M6, Russia has its own agenda when it comes to running the Mars base, and who will ultimately benefit from the mining and spoils of the asteroid which is now housed on the Red Planet is yet to be determined.

Aleida’s presence on Mars, and her position as the CEO of Helios, puts Margo and Aleida into an odd position in terms of the need to collaborate, but it also provides grounds for disputes to come up naturally, aside from the personal negative feelings that Aleida will hold for the woman who ruined her friend’s life.

Ultimately, Irina’s arrival will bring some interesting color to For All Mankind season 5, and open the door for more conflict between the central characters and the rest of the people who call Mars their home. But how this all plays out, and what damage may come is yet to be seen.
