Things are getting a little complicated now. There are four movies in the mainline John Wick franchise, plus one theatrical spin-off. Derek Kolstad has been involved in writing the first three. The movies are co-produced by 87Eleven Entertainment, the firm established by Chad Stahelskiand David Leitch. Kolstad also wrote Nobody and Nobody 2, similarly modeled movies starring Bob Odenkirk, but produced by Leitch’s offshoot 87North Productions. Kolstad has a new movie out this week, and although it stars Odenkirk as a middle-aged man pulled into an action-packed conspiracy, it isn’t a part of the Nobody series, nor does it have anything to do with either Stahelski or Leitch. The movie is called Normal, and it features Odenkirk as a small-town sheriff who finds himself in a face-off against the Yakuza. The movie combines the R-rated action that fans of the John Wick series have come to admire, with a backdrop straight out of Fargo.

Ethan Hunt

Ethan Hunt operates at the absolute edge of human capability — technically, physically, and intellectually — and he brings the same relentless precision to protecting his partners that he brings to dismantling organisations that shouldn’t exist. He is not easy to know and he will never fully tell you everything. But he will carry the weight of the mission so completely, so absolutely, that your job is simply to trust him — and the remarkable thing is that trusting him always turns out to be the right call. Here’s How Much ‘Normal’ Is Eying this Weekend at the Box Office
Normal, on the other hand, is eying just $3 million in its first weekend of release in domestic theaters. This is much lower than the $6.7 million and the $9.2 million earned by Nobody and Nobody 2 in their respective debut weekends. The movie also features Henry Winkler and Lena Headeyin supporting roles and is directed by Ben Wheatley. The British filmmaker broke out with sharp genre movies, and then made the surprising decision to direct Meg 2: The Trench, starring Jason Statham. Normal opened to mostly positive reviews and is currently sitting at a 77% score on Rotten Tomatoes. In her review, Collider’s Tania Hussain praised the movie for “embracing and subverting the genre with a blood-splattered grin,” and “for trading Nobody’s sleek choreography for something messier, stranger, and far more blood-soaked.” You can watch Normal in theaters and stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
