Weekend 2 of Coachella had just as many surprises for Sabrina Carpenter fans as the first, with the original ‘Material Girl’ joining her onstage for an iconic duet.
Madonna made an appearance during the Man’s Best Friend artist’s set, ascending from below the stage to her own 1990 hit ‘Vogue’, which she performed with Carpenter before transitioning into ‘Like a Prayer’.
“Twenty years ago today, I performed at Coachella. I was in the dance tent, and it was the first time I performed Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part I in America,” recalled Madonna, who releases Confessions II on July 3. “And that was such a thrill for me, so you can imagine what a thrill it is for me to be back 20 years later. In the same boots, the same corset, the jacket I had on earlier, the same Gucci jacket. So, it’s like a full circle moment, you know? Very meaningful for me.”
Earlier in the set, Geena Davis made an appearance as future Sabrina at the drive-in, taking over from her Thelma & Louise (1991) co-star Susan Sarandon’s performance during Weekend 1.
Meanwhile, Terry Crews rocked the electrician’s jumpsuit Will Ferrell wore in the first weekend, restoring power to Carpenter’s performance. But not before stripping off the top half of the suit to flex his guns and give fans a taste of his rendition of Vanessa Carlton’s ‘A Thousand Miles’ from White Chicks (2004), shortly after the Wayans brothers teased a sequel.
Coachella continues its second and final weekend with additional headliners Justin Bieber and Karol G, as well as performances from Addison Rae, FKA Twigs, Iggy Pop, Turnstile, Katseye, PinkPantheress, David Byrne, Sombr and more.
