Red Dead Redemption 2 Players Stunned By New Feature After 8 Years

[

It’s been eight years since Rockstar Games’ sprawling open world saga first captured our hearts. With the passage of time, you’d think gamers would have uncovered every minutia the game has to offer. From horse anatomy reacting to the temperature of the weather, to sunlight shining through the soft tissue of human ears, Red Dead Redemption 2 has always been a masterclass in detail.

Having covered every inch of the map and, indeed, with the passage of time, it would have been safe to assume that we’d uncovered every secret the game has to offer at this stage. Well, eight years on, and we’re still being surprised by Arthur Morgan and his adventures in the West. Thanks to a Redditor, we’ve got video footage of something we’ve never seen before in the game. One of those rare…if you didn’t see it, you wouldn’t believe it moments was thankfully captured on video.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Is Still Full Of Surprises

Sentient Shotgun Saves The Day

Yes, with a staggering eight years under its belt, there are still rare moments in the game that you’ll have never seen before. The one in particular covered on Reddit is where a random alligator attacks Arthur out in the swamps near Saint Denis without warning. So far so normal. What happens next, though, is a combination of luck and the game having incredibly realistic attention to detail. Arthur is having a toothy tango with a killer croc and not doing so great.

After the second tussle with the creature, Arthur drops his shotgun from the violent shaking. The shotgun drops to the ground and goes off, unleashing into the side of the alligator and killing it. Great realism, great physics and a healthy dose of luck lead to this one-of-a-kind moment where a misfire saves the player’s life. An amazing moment that would be near impossible in any other game. The genius of Red Dead Redemption 2 lives on years after launch. And with Red Dead Redemption 2 expansions to explore, it seems like the game will live forever.

Red Dead Redemption 2’s Open World Remains Undefeated

A Living World That Breaks Boundaries

The secrets and reveals of this truly amazing map go on. The commentors in the Reddit thread alone reminds fans of many jaw-dropping moments caught in gameplay footage that showcase what a special lightning in a bottle game Red Dead Redemption 2 really is. My favorite of which is the moment Arthur shoots his gun in the air to scare a goon, only for a bird to fall out of the sky moments later. A cartoonish one in a million shot that always makes me chuckle.

Or how about the officer whose own shogun bounces onto the ground and brings him to an abrupt grizzly end? Red Dead Redemption 2 keeps delivering thanks to it’s insanely realistic attention to detail and grounded physics. Even after eight years, the feeling of traveling across the map of Red Dead Redemption 2 has never been matched by any other game. And while we wait for even a tease of Red Dead Redemption 3 to release, I’ll be saddling up with Arthur Morgan for one more playthrough, perhaps using a mod for new game plus just for good measure.
