Hulu Orders ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County’ Spinoff

[

Hulu‘s “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” is heading to the O.C. Hulu was set to announce Wednesday that it has ordered the series “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County,” a spinoff series set to premiere sometime later this year.

The O.C. edition reps the first offshoot of “Mormon Wives,” something that has long been expected given the tremendous popularity of the original series. “We can absolutely do the secret lives of many other types of wives, but I think we want to be careful,” Disney alternative TV boss Rob Mills told Variety last year. “But yes, this could be a franchise starter for sure.”

News, announced at Hulu’s “Get Real” unscripted event, comes even as “Mormon Wives” currently faces some controversy, with Season 5 production going on pause weeks ago amid a domestic violence investigation involving Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. (Filming recently resumed.)

Here’s the logline on the O.C. version: “A new group of dynamic young mothers in Orange County collide in a community where beliefs are not just their religion; they are their identity. While some defend their way of life, fighting against modernity, others embrace change, becoming a platform to disrupt the status quo. Scandals and secrets will be revealed, facades will crumble, and families and friendships will change forever on both sides of the battlefield as this group of strong, game-changing influencers comes together to build their answer to #MomTok. This is ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County.’”

The series stars Aspyn Ovard (@aspynovard), Bobbi Althoff (@bobbi), Avery Woods (@averyywoods), Salomé Andrea (@salomeandreaa), McCall DaPron (@mccalldapron), Chandler Higginson (@chandlerhigginson), Ashleigh Pease (@ashleigh_pease) and Madison Bontempo (@madisonbontempo).

Ovard is an influencer who made waves after divorcing her husband of nearly nine years in 2024. Earlier this year, People magazine wrote about her new relationship with her friend Bri Davis, who was already married to another man. Althoff is a podcaster and influencer who hosts “The Really Good Podcast.” Woods is a TikTok star who hosts the podcast “Cheers.” Andrea is on TikTok and also vlogs about her family. (She also appeared on this 2023 episode of Woods’ “Cheers.”) DaPron describes herself on TikTok as “wife, mom x4, former D1 tennis player, sourdough baker” from Orange County (and is the sister of “Mormon Wives” star Mayci Neeley). Higginson is accounts receivable specialist at Raceline Wheels/Allied Wheel Components and posts family videos on TikTok. Pease founded GetFitForKids and is on TikTok here. Bontempo founded WittlesKids, is a mom of five and has acting credits including “Love Everlasting.”

Jeff Jenkins Prods. produces “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County,” in association with 3BMG and Walt Disney Television Alternative. Executive producers include Jeff Jenkins, Russell Jay-Staglik, Amanda Weinstein, Melissa Bidwell and Brandon Beck at Jeff Jenkins Productions; Ross Weintraub and Reinout Oerlemans at 3BMG; and Georgia Berger, Lisa Filipelli and Danielle Pistotnik at Select Entertainment.
