A Bloodborne PC port has been something that FromSoftware fans have been begging for since the beloved title was first released for the PlayStation 4 back in 2015. Alas, the hit RPG is still a Sony exclusive, being available for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users only. On top of that, with Bloodborne yet to receive an official remaster or remake of any kind, there is no surprise that fans have been donning their clown makeup during every Sony State of Play over the past decade. However, it is not all doom and gloom, as one dedicated fan has found a way to bring Bloodborne to the PC, marking the most successful unofficial PC port so far.
Created by fromsoftserve over on Nexus Mods, BB PC Remaster is an unofficial PC port for Bloodborne that still manages to capture the magic of the original FromSoftware title whilst bringing it up to modern-day PC standards. To do that, fromsoftserve has implemented many different features aimed at improving visuals and performance. This includes: “dynamic shadows to everything in the game, altering GParams to boost shadow render distance and stability, parallax occlusion mapping added to many surfaces, new pointlights for many previously unlit light sources like candles, lamps, etc.”
As such, BB PC Remaster has captured the hearts and minds of Bloodborne fans all over the world, with one fan recently taking to r/BloodbornePC to share their thoughts. Posting a comparison image of what vanilla Bloodborne looks like alongside fromsoftserve’s mod, it is clear how much of a difference it makes, even though the Reddit user was not happy with the “p**s color” the ReShade caused. Luckily, upon listening to the community, the modder released an update which would allow you to remove the yellow tint. As one player commented, “fromsoftserve try not to be based challenge (difficulty: impossible).”
What followed was a myriad of fans coming forward to share their appreciation of BB PC Remaster, claiming that it is an impressive project, especially now that the ReShade has been fixed. It just goes to show that bringing Bloodborne to the PC is indeed possible, and despite FromSoftware previously revealing that it would be happy to do so, it seems as though it is Sony that is dragging its feet.
However, with the news recently breaking that an animated Bloodborne movie is currently in production, fans hope that this will be the perfect time to release the long-awaited remaster or PC port. After all, coinciding with the launch of the movie will be the perfect marketing for a new release. For now, however, it is time to play Bloodborne on the PC for the first time, courtesy of fromsoftserve.
