Amazon And Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Entertainment Ink Audio And Video Podcast Deal

Oprah Winfrey is setting up shop at Amazon.

The media potentate’s Harpo Entertainment has signed a comprehensive multi-year deal with the tech giant. As part of the agreement, Wondery will have exclusive distribution and advertising rights to The Oprah Podcast on audio and video.

The show is also expanding to two new episodes per week starting in July.

Library episodes are also included in the pact, as are franchises like “Oprah’s Book Club” and “Oprah’s Favorite Things,” which will be integrated across Amazon. As it ramps up its overall advertising efforts, with ad sales totaling $68 billion in 2025, Amazon is increasingly looking to weave its massive retail operation together with audio and video programming.

Wondery, which was repositioned last year in a restructuring as a more celebrity-focused podcast outlet alongside Amazon’s Audible, is known for shows like New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce; Baby, This is Keke Palmer; and Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard.

The Oprah Podcast will appear on Prime Video, Amazon Music, Fire TV Channels and Audible. It will also remain available on YouTube and on audio via Spotify, Apple Podcasts and other distributors.

Ranging across topics, the podcast in many ways harkens back to the 25-year run of The Oprah Winfrey Show on syndicated television. It blends self-improvement themes with conversations about topics like tech addiction, divorce, family relationships, grief, pets, and more. The roster of guests has included Misty Copeland, Hugh Jackman, Kate Hudson, Mel Robbins, Leanne Morgan, Jeremy Allen White, Serena Williams, Ina Garten, Maria Shriver, and Esther Perel.

Special “Oprah’s Book Club” episodes feature author discussions in front of live audiences.

The Oprah Podcast is produced by Harpo, executive produced by Winfrey and Tara Montgomery, and co-executive produced by Brian Piotrowicz and Brad Pavone.

“Hosting this podcast allows me to continue the work I feel called to do – opening the door for conversations that matter,” Winfrey said in a statement. “The kind of conversations that remind us we’re not alone, and invite us to see ourselves and one another more clearly. Expanding our reach globally is an opportunity I embrace, as we continue to connect through stories that invite new ways of seeing and, hopefully, deepen understanding.”

Steve Boom, VP of Audio, Twitch, and Games, Amazon, said Winfrey “has built one of the most iconic, timeless brands in the world, spanning television, publishing, and beyond.” Amazon, he added, will now be “bringing her voice to more people and expanding how her audiences engage with Oprah.”

CAA and Loeb & Loeb LLP repped Harpo in the negotiations.
