The world’s biggest sporting event, the FIFA World Cup, is readying itself for kick-off on June 11, 2026. And while this year’s event — being held across venues in the USA and Mexico — has been marred by political events, the show will be going ahead, and we Aussies will be able to cheer on the Socceroos.
And what better way to do so than with a glorious big-screen TV for all your friends and family to gather around? Big-screen TVs, those that are at least 75 inches but can now stretch up to a gargantuan 115 inches, are becoming increasingly popular in Australia. We’re fortunate that some suburbs have space for bigger homes, meaning bigger rooms to house a giant screen.
And the World Cup couldn’t be arriving at a better time, when new TVs from the likes of LG and Samsung are starting to hit store shelves, while stock levels of 2025 TVs remain and are now heavily discounted in most instances.
Of course, a bigger TV isn’t just good for sports, but movies and shows too. And when they’re paired with one of the best soundbars in Australia, you have all the makings of a fantastic home cinema setup.
I’ve picked out some of my top TV recommendations below, catering to all budgets and brands. You’ll find budget options from the likes of TCL and Hisense, to high-end alternatives including LG OLEDs (which have already received discounts on some sizes) and the newly-launched, super-bright Samsung Micro RGB TV range.
