Battle shōnen series are the most popular genre in anime, delivering non-stop action with epic fights and stunning animation. One of the most popular series in this regard is One Piece, a long-running anime about a boy looking to be the King of the pirates by finding the titular treasure. While powerscaling is always inconsistent, most anime use some sort of metric to gauge strength, and in One Piece, it is bounties.

While bounties correlate to danger/threat level and not strength, it is still a practical guide to see who is generally strong. The Navy posts bounties to warn the public about dangerous criminals and entice bounty hunters to defeat these notorious figures. However, no one is touching the strongest characters in the series with the highest bounties. This list will rank the highest confirmed bounties in the anime.

Vinsmoke Sanji

Besides Luffy, a handful of Straw Hat pirates finally got their bounty across that prestigious one billion line, with many of them making this big jump after Wano. Vinsmoke Sanji is the crew cook who fights with only kicks to preserve his hands for cooking. Often hailed for his character development and extra moments in the New World, Sanji has quickly proven to be one of the strongest characters in One Piece.

The past handful of arcs have been good for Sanji, from showcasing magnificent character development in Whole Cake Island to his Raid Suit power-up in the first half of Wano to his new technique, Ifrit Jambe. He may not have had much time in Egghead, but his recent feats are more than deserving of his billion berry bounty. If anything, he deserves a higher bounty, considering the character he beat is still above him.

Charlotte Katakuri

While Jack of the Beast Pirates was the first character revealed to have a billion berry bounty, Charlotte Katakuri soon overtook him with 1,057,000,000. Katakuri is one of the sons of the Emperor Big Mom, and fans got a taste of his power and personality firsthand when he fought Luffy as the main antagonist in the Whole Cake Island arc.

A billion berries had never been seen before, and Katakuri quickly showed how strong a character has to be to earn this status. He seemed to be better than Luffy in almost everything, which resulted in one of the best fights in One Piece. Despite losing, Katakuri is still a powerful character with a rightfully high bounty that many fans thought was one of the strongest characters in anime.

Jinbe is a former Sun Pirate and Warlord of the Sea, who previously followed Fisher Tiger, but now follows the Sun God himself. It was a long time coming, but Jinbe is officially part of the crew, and he immediately posted a high bounty that is almost the second-highest among the Straw Hats.

Jinbe is arguably the most experienced pirate on the Straw Hat crew, with plenty of years under his belt serving a different captain and being a Warlord. Fans can immediately feel his strength and wisdom, which is why he has such a higher first bounty, even higher than Sanji’s, which many fans thought would be higher.

But now he is one of the most dangerous swordsmen in the world, and his most recent bounty of over a billion reflects this.

Zoro hasn’t had many serious fights in the New World, but that just shows he is far above the competition. Fans just got the best look at his strength during his fight against King in Wano, where Zoro proved that he still has it. He was a powerful character, but ultimately lost in his battle against Zoro in Wano.

King earned his bounty through reputation and strength, since any member of the Beast Pirates will be notorious. But he is also one of the last remaining Lunarians, known for their dark skin, white hair, and fiery backs. After spending over a century fighting for no reason, this gargantuan duo were picked up by their crew and made their way to Egghead, where they are now bringing the Straw Hats to Elbaph.

Giants are naturally some of the strongest characters, and Dorry and Brogy might be the most powerful. However, they don’t have the highest bounty; that honor goes to a certain prince who hasn’t appeared in the anime at the time of writing.
