Tony Stark Is the New Hulk In Jaw-Dropping Marvel Reveal

Marvel’s greatest heroes are getting their own Hulk designs – and the first to be revealed is Tony Stark’s Iron Man. Can Earth-616 survive the Armored Avenger turning against it?

In 2027, Marvel will unleash Hulk War: Infernal Rage, from Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Nic Klein. The event is spinning out of Inferal Hulk, where the demonic Eldest has stolen the powers of Bruce Banner’s Hulk.

Having consumed the elder god Vinruviel, the Infernal Hulk can now imbue its victims with the spirits of ancient monsters, turning them into terrifying eldritch kaiju. As the war begins in earnest, that transformation begins with Tony Stark’s Iron Man.

Iron Man Transformed into a Monster by the Infernal Hulk

The look at Iron Man’s monstrous redesign comes courtesy of Juan Ferreyra, whose variant cover appears on select copies of the recent Infernal Hulk #6. The image shows Tony Stark transformed into a gigantic, muscle-colored monster, with jagged iron armor dotted around its body.

While the creature maintains some of Tony’s iconic armor – and especially a humanity-obscuring faceplate – it’s closer to a freakish Hulk than the charming hero fans know and love.

The summary for Comics Giveaway Day 2026: Amazing Spider-Man/Queen in Black #1 promises a look ahead, stating “The Eldest has taken control of the Hulk, and what happens next will make every past Hulk battle look like a skirmish!” It’s likely that the issue – free this weekend at local comic stores around the world – will debut Tony’s transformation, and potentially those of other heroes.

Iron Man’s Monstrous Redesign Is an Echo of His Godlike New Armor

Iron Man’s redesign is particularly dark because he was recently rocking a similar redesign, but one that elevated him to new levels of power. After acquiring the Spear of the One Above All, Tony used it to create his new Hellbuster armor, attempting to personally take down the Infernal Hulk.

That mission failed, and Tony’s armor was torn to pieces. However, judging by Ferreyra’s design, the Hulk plans to make him pay for the painful battle, with Tony’s monster form echoing his increased size and new faceplate in the Hellbuster suit.

Of course, Tony may be the first victim, but he won’t be the last. The Infernal Hulk’s mission is to unleash an ‘Age of Monsters’ – one that may begin in Earth-616, but will then spread across the multiverse. As heroes become monsters, who is left to stop the fall of reality as Marvel fans know it?

Bruce Banner Is Marvel’s Last Hope Against the Hulk

In Infernal Hulk and its marketing materials for Hulk War: Infernal Rage, Marvel has strongly implied that the big hook for the event will be seeing its most iconic heroes transformed into monstrosities, but if the world’s heroes are monsters, who’s left to fight back?

Earlier in Infernal Hulk, Tony Stark reached out to Bruce Banner, begging him to rejoin the fight against the Infernal Hulk. At the time, Bruce refused, but once the Avengers have fallen – or worse, joined the Hulk’s side – he will likely be forced back into the fray. And if the Infernal Hulk unlocks Bruce Banner’s monstrous potential, it may find another Hulk staring back at it.

The run up to Hulk War: Infernal Rage will likely reveal more upcoming transformations for Marvel’s biggest heroes, and hopefully also share the names and backstories of the monsters possessing them. Infernal Hulk has made a feature of lore pages sharing the unseen history of Marvel’s monsters, and who the Avengers have become may well be as interesting as what.
