The Supernatural fans may have hope of seeing the dynamic duo back together another time in The Boys universe.
Supernatural debuted in 2005, and to say it has a loyal fan base would be a massive understatement. The Eric Kripke-created show has led to constant cosplay and fanficiton, and significantly elevated the careers of leads Jared Padelecki and Jensen Ackles. Both have gone on to separately star in series, while coming together on Kripke’s other hit, The Boys.
In an interview with ScreenRant‘s Tatiana Hullender, Kripke teases the possibility of yet another Padelecki and Ackles reunion. Kripke kindly addressed the Supernatural fan community, deeming it “a beautiful and terrifying thing.” That said, he is not too afraid to include Supernatural cameos in future work within The Boys IP. Check out the full quote from Kripke below:
ScreenRant: Episode 5 has the long-awaited Supernatural reunion. Obviously, any morsel of Supernatural begets more Supernatural. Are you prepared for the cries of “More, sir, please?” And are there any Vought Rising team-up possibilities for that cast?
Eric Kripke: The Supernatural fandom is a beautiful and terrifying thing, and I treat it with the proper respect. If the story’s right, and the right character opportunity comes up, I will always be open to Supernatural cameos. I love all those people. They’re my family, and I like working with people that I like. So, I’m always open to it.
As Hullender references in her question, Padelecki and Ackles were both recently seen in The Boys season 5, episode 5, along with former Supernatural cast regular Misha Collins. Ackles had first appeared in The Boys in season 3, playing Soldier Boy. He was a main player in that season, and then came back briefly in The Boys season 4 finale.
The inclusion of Ackles in another Kripke show led to long-term speculation about whether Ackles’ Supernatural co-star Padelecki would also appear in the twisted superhero series. Padelecki’s casting was confirmed in February 2025, much to the liking of Winchester fans, and just this week made his appearance in the series.
And though The Boys season 5 will be its last, Kripke is far from done milking this IP for all it’s worth. In addition to the spinoff series Gen V, whose cancellation was recently announced, Kripke and his team are at work on the prequel series Vought Rising.
Vought Rising specifically puts greater emphasis on Soldier Boy, thus giving Ackles a lot of screen time. This means that a Supernatural reunion would make particular sense in this series, giving some weight to Kripke’s optimism in wanting to please the always passionate fan base.
Interestingly, Kripke’s quote also opens doors for there to be another Supernatural reunion besides just Padelecki, Ackles, and Collins. While these three core are the most well known from the dark fantasy series, other key players such as Mark Pellegrino would also be exciting to see in Vought Rising.
As The Boys‘ mainline story meets its end, a whole world of new characters will open up, also expanding the possibility of a Supernatural reunion once again.
