Star Trek: Picard’s USS Enterprise-D Bridge Reconstruction Revealed In New Book

The full story of how the USS Enterprise-D’s iconic bridge was recreated in Star Trek: Picard season 3 is revealed in a stunning new book. Masterminded by showrunner Terry Matalas, Star Trek: Picard season 3 premiered on Paramount+ in 2023 and reunited the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation for a final adventure acclaimed by critics and audiences.

The final Star Trek: The Next Generation character revealed in Star Trek: Picard season 3 was the USS Enterprise-D itself, which returned to action in the final two episodes. While the beloved Galaxy-class starship was a CGI recreation, the massive bridge was rebuilt from scratch by a team led by production designer Dave Blass and visionary art director Liz Kloczkowski.

With a plethora of photos and diagrams explaining how the USS Enterprise-D’s bridge was rebuilt step-by-step, Star Trek: Picard Rebuilding the Bridge is a true labor of love by Liz Kloczkowski and Picard‘s production designers. The book also has forewords by Terry Matalas, Dave Blass, and legendary Star Trek production designer Herman Zimmerman.

Star Trek: Picard‘s cast, including Patrick Stewart and Jonathan Frakes, have all spoken about how emotional they were when they first stepped onto the rebuilt USS Enterprise-D’s set. Liz Kloczkowski’s work was painstakingly accurate, including the carpet, which Admiral Picard specifically highlighted in Star Trek: Picard season 3, episode 9, “Vox.”

Liz Kloczkowski is a multi-talented and highly sought-after art director who has also worked on NBC’s Quantum Leap reboot, Ted on Peacock, American Primeval on Netflix, and, currently, FOX’s reboot of Baywatch.

A modified version of Liz Kloczkowski’s USS Enterprise-D bridge was featured in Universal Studios Hollywood’s Fan Fest Nights in 2025, which allowed fans to walk through (mostly) the same set seen in Star Trek: Picard season 3.

Star Trek fans still hold out hope that Star Trek: Picard season 3’s continuation, Star Trek: Legacy, can still happen on Paramount+. Meanwhile, 3 years after Star Trek: Picard season 3’s final bow, fans can thrill to how Liz Kloczkowski rebuilt the USS Enterprise-D’s bridge in Master Replica’s upcoming book, which will have a limited print run.
