Cyberpunk 2077 is officially returning with a brand-new game, but fans may be reasonably surprised to see what this follow-up is like, especially considering news on Cyberpunk 2077 Project Orion has been pretty scarce lately while everyone is still eagerly awaiting a sequel. Sadly, news surrounding Project Orion continues to be quiet, but fans at least have a new and official Cyberpunk 2077 game to look forward to — and it’s releasing later this month.
Even though Cyberpunk 2077 released over 5 years ago, CD Projekt Red has continually added quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and updates to the game. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the studio is nowhere near finished with this excellent open-world RPG. Between the releases of various clothing and merchandise, Cyberpunk 2077 is just the gift that keeps on giving. But if you’ve been hungry for actual game content, then you’re in luck.
Cyberpunk 2077 Is Back With Chrome Rush
Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush was officially unveiled a little over a month ago, and it’ll be shipping out pretty soon. Chrome Rush isn’t the kind of follow-up game many fans expected. It’s an arcade game billed as “cybernetically enhanced motorcycle racing with a side of combat.” Per Prime Time Amusements, it comes with the following features:
– An arcade exclusive entry into the Cyberpunk 2077 franchise
– Detailed twin model cabinet with two player stations
– Color LED matrix topper display
– Each station features subtle cabinet details which fits with the universe of the game
– 2x 65″ 4K screens
– 2x swivel motorbike controllers & air-powered motion bases
– Further control the action with the handle bar accelerator, brake handle, attack & start buttons
– 8 bikes with different stats; 7 characters; 4 tracks, each with shortcuts
– Powerful wind blower simulates the air flow of racing
– Each station uses a powerful PC that drives the 60fps gameplay
– 2.1ch sound system
– Shared cashbox for both stations (coin or card swipe ready)
Chrome Rush is exclusive to arcades, so if you’re looking to play this on a home console, you’re sadly out of luck. Essentially, players can get on one of two motorcycles in front of massive 4K screens, where they will race and occasionally be involved in combat. There are 8 bikes to choose from, 7 characters to play as, and 4 tracks to experience.
An Unexpected Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel
An overview trailer for Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush, which can be viewed above, shows off what fans of the sci-fi series can expect once they show up to an arcade. This is admittedly quite a different experience than anything in the base game of the Phantom Liberty DLC, but for anyone who’s driven through Night City on a motorbike, the gameplay should feel similar.
While we know Cyberpunk 2077‘s sequel is in the works, it’s supposedly still in early development, so don’t expect to see it for a while. Chrome Rush may have to hold us over in the meantime. Obviously, this follow-up doesn’t have the depth of the main game, but it still looks really cool. And there are fans that will make it feel like you’re racing, adding to the immersion, adding more realism than anything you can probably get at home.
Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush Units Are Shipping This Month
The good news is that Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush units are shipping soon. Although they still have an unspecified release date, listings have them shipping out in May 2026 (a few say June 2026). That means we’re really close to seeing these arrive in arcades. If you have a local favorite arcade, call and see if they’re getting a unit.
After its infamous launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has had a comeback for the ages, and it’s really nice seeing new products release for it. Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush looks like a pretty unique game, so we’re eager to check it out once the units start arriving. Thankfully, that wait is almost over.
