Steam 2025 Game Free To Keep Forever Until May 7, No Strings Attached

Once again, we return with another free game for you to download and play on Steam. There are new free games being added to Steam, every single day, and it can be really hard to keep up with everything. There’s also the question of your backlog of purchased games, which I know isn’t getting any smaller. Don’t try and lie to me.

At the time of writing, there are currently four new free games available to download and play. Three of these are only available on a trial period which ends on May 4, but the fourth game on offer is completely free to download and keep forever if you get it before May 7.

Right now, you can save 100 percent on the 2025 single-player indie horror Overcome Your Fears – Caretaker. This is effectively a walking simulator with a horror narrative threaded through, so don’t go in expecting the next Resident Evil or anything like that.

“This is a psychological atmospheric horror game that immerses you in a world of the unknown,” reads the game’s synopsis. “In this game you are exploring the story of 19-year-old Steve Jackson, who takes a job house-sitting for friends while they are on vacation. At the time of writing, Overcome Your Fears – Caretaker has a Mostly Positive rating on Steam. The slow pace doesn’t seem to be for everyone, but if you’re looking for a relatively short horror experience to get the blood pumping, this could be the game for you.

“Good short little game,” reads one recent user review. “Liked the feel, graphics, and had easy and fun achievements. Wouldn’t pay for this, but right now it is free so you should try it!”

For the next 24 hours, Steam gamers can also play Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, which is a definitely a different vibe to a slow walking simulator/horror in pretty much every conceivable way. Also available until May 4 is the undead-blasting shooter No More Room In Hell, and 2022 historical sim Victoria 3, so you have plenty of options on Steam right now. Just remember, only the horror game is free to keep forever.
