PlayStation Plus has had an excellent April this year, offering up numerous free games through various tiers on top of game trials and more. What’s been a solid year for PS Plus looks like it’ll continue once May’s Essential games arrive next week. However, that comes with a downside because it also means multiple games will be leaving PS Plus soon.
As a subscription service, PlayStation Plus is always adding and removing games. Still, it’s nice to get a heads-up before games leave, especially if they’re on the Essential tier, because you can add them to your libraries and keep playing as long as your membership is still active. According to the official PlayStation Blog, three games are leaving PS Plus on May 4 — in about 24 hours from right now.
The three games leaving PlayStation Plus Essential on May 4, 2026, are:
- Lords of the Fallen
- Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream
- Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered
If you want to continue playing these games, be sure to add them to your library before the expiration date. After that, as long as you have a PS Plus subscription, you’ll be able to keep playing them. While they’re leaving the Essential tier for good, it’s also possible that they’ll show up on Extra or Premium later on, so this may not be goodbye forever.
These were the three Essential games for April 2026, so it makes sense they’re leaving PlayStation Plus now. The good news is that the May 2026 lineup will be replacing them on Tuesday, May 5. The Extra and Premium games for May will also be announced later this month.
The Essential games for May 2026 have been announced and offer up a chance to dive into soccer, a hand-drawn 2D world, and a Soulslike RPG. Those games are EA Sports FC 26, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and Nine Sols. Initital reactions have been a bit mixed, but considering they’re free, you’ll still most likely want to add them to your library.
Remember, these games arrive on May 5, but that means the current slate of PlayStation Plus games on the Essential plan are being removed in around 24 hours from right now. Even if you don’t plan on playing them at this exact moment, it’s best to add them to your library while they’re still free. You never know when you might want to check out Lords of the Fallen, dive into the world of Sword Art Online, or get nostalgic with Tomb Raider.
