‘Fire Country’ Medical Spin-Off Officially Confirmed at CBS

There will be a medical team reporting to Fire Country, stat. Matt Lopez, who serves as showrunner and executive producer on the hit firefighting procedural’s first spin-off, Sheriff Country, has just inked an overall deal with CBS, and, per a new report, that deal will also have him developing other projects for the network. Among those ideas is the untitled Edgewater-set medical drama that’s been gaining steam behind the scenes. Although Lopez will continue his duties as the helmer of the Morena Baccarin-led show, he’s also in charge of penning the latest offshoot and executive producing with franchise creators Max Thieriot, Joan Rater, and Tony Phelan.
