At this point, Grand Theft Auto 6 has become a lightning rod for reactions, especially around leaks. One of the biggest media releases of all time is mere months away, and we only have one substantial trailer to point to at the moment, plus another smaller video overview. Folks have been waiting with bated breath for “trailer three” to no avail.
However, Take-Two (the owner of Rockstar) just held an earnings call and gave us an update on GTA 6. Fans have also been waiting for this one, and it’s one of the few games that warrants that sort of scrutiny. Not every game has millions of people interested in an earnings call, and it’s become a badge of honor for the publisher in recent months.
Thanks to a new official update from Take-Two on the release date of GTA 6, fans have been taking to social media, including Reddit, to voice their thoughts.
While some pundits expected a delayed announcement of some sort, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has been adamant that GTA 6 will hit the newly minted target date of November 19, 2026, for weeks now. He’s reiterated it in interviews plainly, and it seems like fans have nothing to worry about as of May 21. The earnings call fully confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 would meet its current release date and reaffirmed support for the PS5 and Xbox Series X platforms.
Naturally, folks are happy: “I’m not naive enough to believe another delay is impossible, but this feels like a massive hurdle cleared,” one wrote. Another notes: “Same I just think it’s most likely not getting delayed they’ve been very committed to this date and have said it many times. We’re just getting impatient waiting for marketing is all.”
Others are loving that a third delay prophecy hasn’t come true: “Wait, I thought the game was getting delayed according to a bunch of people with no evidence? Looks like marketing starts in summer, as previously stated, as expected.” A select few fans still think the game isn’t out of the woods yet: “One more delay coming. The final date will be somewhere in May 2027.”
Zelnick also noted that we’ll see more Grand Theft Auto 6 news “this summer,” including more pre-order information. For anyone expecting another delay, it seems we’re under five months out from the final release at this point.
Grand Theft Auto 6 will be a force to be reckoned with when it finally comes out. No matter how many delays it was hit with (even one internal target shift), it’s certain to make huge moves when it arrives.
