One of the biggest shows currently on Netflix is leaving the platform in a matter of days – though there’s just enough time left to start and finish the series without having to lock in for some major streaming marathons for anyone who’s willing to start watching it now. Netflix is well-known for having a platform that many use to marathon shows and movies en masse, with this being one of the core appeals of the wide catalog the platform possesses.
Naturally, though, Netflix’s catalog is not set in stone, with plenty of releases joining and leaving the platform in any given month. This keeps things interesting for those wanting new content, but also means that there’s oftentimes a limited timeframe in which certain releases can be watched on the streaming service, since most shows and movies have a limited shelf life before they eventually exit Netflix itself.
This is the case for one of the biggest and most lastingly famous shows that has found itself on Netflix in the platform’s history, which is set to leave the streamer at the end of this month. While this means plenty of people will no doubt want to watch or rewatch the show before it ends its current Netflix run, the length of the series means anyone who doesn’t start it now may find finishing it before it leaves Netflix an impossible task.
Sex And The City Is Long Enough You’d Need To Start Watching It Now To Finish It Before It Leaves Netflix
All six seasons of Sex and the City are currently set to leave Netflix on July 30, 2026, as per Netflix’s own official site. While this means there’s plenty of time to catch some of the series, the length of it means anyone who doesn’t intend to carry out a nigh-impossible Netflix marathon in order to watch through all the show before it leaves the streaming service would ideally need to begin it now.
With Sex and the City coming to around 37 hours of viewtime without commercials or watching the credits for any episode, starting the show on Netflix on June 2 would mean viewers would only need to watch around an hour and 20 minutes of the show – or roughly three episodes – a day in order to have made it through the entire collective series by the time the comedy drama leaves Netflix.
Given Sex and the City is ostensibly one of the biggest television shows of all time – having served as a cultural foothold due to the way it explored the lives of its four central characters in playful but engaging ways – it would make sense for a lot of viewers to try to give the series one final watch before it exists Netflix potentially for good. While some are sure to try this in a far shorter window, marathoning Sex and the City closer to its Netflix exit is a far more fraught scenario.
Sex And The City Can Technically Be Watched In A Weekend (But It Would Be A Nightmare)
Ultimately, watching a series that is almost a full two calendar days long is possible in a shorter timespan, though this doesn’t seem as though it would be strictly possible or necessarily fun for most people, especially for those who have obligations outside of the realm of watching TV.
For example, Sex and the City could theoretically be watched over the course of one weekend, but to watch it in two days would require two 18-hour-plus-long viewing sessions – which makes it pretty unlikely for people to carry out, to say the least. Even with Friday added in, Sex and the City becomes a long weekend of around 12 hour-long viewing sessions, which wouldn’t be a light weekend by any means either.
While some are sure to attempt this daring undertaking closer to Sex and the City‘s scheduled removal from Netflix, these numbers underline why it’s well worth catching the series well beforehand for anyone who seeks to watch one of the most famous shows currently on the platform before it makes its way off the streaming service.
