Brendan Fraser Reveals His Reaction To The Mummy 4 Script

The Mummy 4‘s script gets a first reaction from Brendan Fraser.

Hailing from directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the upcoming fourth installment in the Mummy franchise will see Fraser back as Rick O’Connell alongside Rachel Weisz’s Evelyn. The film, which is dated for October 15, 2027, will mark Fraser’s first installment in the franchise since 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

In a recent interview with Collider, Fraser is asked about the script for The Mummy 4, revealing that he’s now read it. The actor isn’t able to share much, but stresses that what he’s read is exciting. Check out his full comment below:

Oh, come on. Ask one-cough-yes, two-coughs-no questions, dude. Come on! Yeah, I read it. [Coughs once] Is it good? [Coughs twice] Yes, it is! Yes. Yes. And that’s all I’m allowed to say, unless a little red dot shows up right here.

Fraser pivots the conversation back to his upcoming World War II movie, Pressure, but not before adding: “I’ve been listening to people harangue me for the last 20 years to make another one, so I think we get the message loud and clear to get the band back together.”

At the moment, very little is known about the actual story for The Mummy 4. The directors have been careful not to reveal much, but they did recently reveal that the film won’t be treating Tomb of the Dragon Emperor as canon. That film, which earned poor reviews, saw Rachel Weisz replaced as Evelyn, with Mario Bello taking over the role.

The script for The Mummy 4 hails from screenwriter David Coggeshall, best known for penning movies like Orphan: First Kill (2022), The Family Plan (2023), and The Family Plan 2 (2025). Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett, meanwhile, have directed films like Scream (2022), Scream 6 (2023), Abigail (2024), and the recent Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026).

For Fraser, The Mummy 4 comes amidst a broader Hollywood comeback. After largely being absent from movies throughout the 2010s, Fraser recently has been appearing far more often in films. He won an Oscar for his role in The Whale (2022) before going on to star in Rental Family (2025). In Pressure, he takes on the role of Dwight Eisenhower in a film about the planning of the D-Day invasion.

It remains to be seen how The Mummy 4 will fare with audiences, but the film is also set to bring back John Hannah as Johnathan Carnahan, with Oded Fehr having also expressed interest in returning as Ardeth Bay. With filming set to begin this summer, more story information will likely be revealed in the near future.
