‘Devil May Cry’ Renewed for Third and Final Season at Netflix

[

The Netflix animated series adaptation of “Devil May Cry” has been renewed for Season 3, which will also be the show’s last.

“For those of you who have been paying attention to the episode names, I have been showing you the structure the entire time,” showrunner Adi Shankar said. “This was always Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’ with guns and a red coat. Season 1 was ‘Inferno.’ Season 2 was ‘Purgatorio.’ Season 3 will be ‘Paradiso.’ These three seasons make up ‘The Force Edge Saga.’ Since inception, ‘The Force Edge Saga’ was designed as a movie trilogy disguised as a television series.”

Based on the hit video game franchise of the same name, “Devil May Cry” originally debuted on Netflix in 2025, with the second season launching in May 2026. Both seasons have spent a combined four weeks on the Netflix Top 10 English language TV chart.

The official logline for the show states, “Sinister forces are at play to open the portal between the human and demon realms. In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck.”

The cast of the series includes Johnny Yong Bosch as Dante, Robbie Daymond as Vergil, and Scout Taylor-Compton as Lady. Shankar serves as showrunner, with Studio Mir providing animation.

“Devil May Cry” is not the only Netflix animated series based on a video game franchise. Among others, the streamer previously aired a series based on “Castlevania” between 2017 and 2021 and also currently has the anime series “Splinter Cell: Deathwatch.”
