Sadie Sink to Star in FX’s ‘Marriage Plot’ Series

Stranger Things alum Sadie Sink‘s next TV series will have decidedly fewer supernatural elements.

The actress will star in and executive produce a limited series based on Jeffrey Eugenides’ novel The Marriage Plot at FX. Will Arbery (Succession) is adapting the novel, and Hiro Murai (Atlanta, Widow’s Bay) is set to direct.

A24 and FX Productions are behind the series. It’s the second FX show Arbery has in the pipeline: He’s also writing and executive producing a family drama called Seven Sisters, starring Elizabeth Olsen.

“The Marriage Plot is a perfect fit for FX: ambitious, character-driven storytelling that offers another great opportunity to partner with exceptional artists,” said Gina Balian, president of FX Entertainment. “We look forward to building on our partnerships with Will and Hiro, both of whom are extraordinary talents who we are proud to work with again.”

The Marriage Plot “follows three recent college graduates caught in an all-consuming love triangle as they reconcile their youthful romantic aspirations with looming adulthood and make life-altering choices about love and identity,” the show’s logline reads. Eugenides’ novel was published in 2011 and landed on a number of best-of lists that year.

Arbery and Murai will executive produce The Marriage Plot with Steven Prinz and Rachel Jacobs for Borderless Pictures, Michael Costigan and Jason Bateman for Aggregate Films, Eugenides, Sink, and Carver Karaszewski and Claudia Shin for Chum Films. Yiyi Huang serves as producer.

Sink, who played Max Mayfield in Netflix’s megahit Stranger Things, will next be seen in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, due in theaters July 31. The Tony Award nominee (for John Proctor Is the Villain) currently on stage in London in a production of Romeo & Juliet with Noah Jupe.
