Star Wars fans, need more Poe Dameron in your life? You’re in luck. This fall, Marvel is collecting its entire Star Wars: Poe Dameron comic series in a single Omnibus edition. The series chronicles Poe’s career as a Republic pilot covering before, during and after the events of The Force Awakens.
Poe Dameron was published by Marvel from 2016-2018. The series helped to flesh out the Sequel Trilogy era of the Star Wars timeline. It gave depth to its title character, Poe, and it also heavily featured his teammates in Black Squadron, including pilots Snap Wexley and Jessika Pava. Now, Marvel’s Poe Dameron omnibus collects all 31 issues of the series, plus two Annual specials.
Star Wars: Poe Dameron was written by Charles Soule, one of the leading figures in the Disney era of Marvel Star Wars comics. The series featured illustrations by artists including Phil Noto, Angel Unzueta and more. The Omnibus collection gives fans the opportunity to experience the entire thrill ride of the series start to finish as one uninterrupted story.
Star Wars has only spent limited time expanding the universe of the Sequel Trilogy over the last 10+ years. Marvel Comics has devoted more focus to other eras, such as the Original Trilogy and the High Republic period. Poe Dameron is one of the franchise’s most extended stays in Sequel territory, making it a vital piece of the puzzle for Star Wars completists.
Poe Dameron’s Sequel Trilogy Tie-In Series Gets A New Collected Edition From Marvel Comics
Discover Poe’s Expanded Force Awakens-Era Adventures September 9, 2026
Marvel’s Poe Dameron ongoing series debuted in April 2016, four months after Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens hit theaters. It was a time when the Disney era of Star Wars was still a wild, uncharted frontier, and ace pilot Poe Dameron was positioned as a leading figure in the future of the franchise.
Poe faded from prominence over the course of the Sequel Trilogy, and Star Wars hasn’t done much with him in the post-Rise of Skywalker years. Arguably, Marvel’s Poe Dameron comic series presents the character at his best, and his most integral to the franchise. It’s a great action-adventure Star Wars series that turned out to be a proving ground for all the great work Charles Soule has done in the galaxy far, far away in the decade since.
Marvel’s Poe Dameron Omnibus, which drops in September, is perfect for Star Wars fans who didn’t have the comic on their radar back during its run, who want a more complete picture of Poe’s place in Star Wars‘ heroic pantheon.
Marvel’s “Poe Dameron” Series Is The Expansion Of The Sequel Trilogy Star Wars Fans Crave
And It’s The Sequel Trilogy Hero At His Apex
Poe Dameron is driven by its charismatic leading character, but it is also notable for its strong supporting cast. Poe’s elite team, Black Squadron, has a prominent role in the series, even earning several issues devoted to their adventures independent of their leader. Notably, the comic makes Snap Wexley more than just a cameo for actor Greg Grunberg; it makes him a solid, three-dimensional character in his own right.
It’s a solid Star Wars story, overall. Yes, it will have Poe Dameron fans wishing for the Oscar Isaacs solo film that never materialized, or hoping against hope he’ll cameo in the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter film. But it will also leave those same fans more satisfied with Poe’s character than the Sequels ultimately did.
Star Wars Is Officially Retconning The Sequel Trilogy
Several recent and upcoming Star Wars projects are retconning the sequel trilogy by providing a brand-new story set after Return of the Jedi.
While the most die-hard Star Wars fans devour every bit of material they can get their hands on, there are plenty of members of the audience who remain skeptical of the franchise’s comics and novels. Poe Dameron is one of those series that prove why comics are an essential part of the Star Wars experience, and the new Omnibus edition coming this fall is a great way for fans to discover that.
What do you say, Star Wars fans? Did you read Poe Dameron yet? Will you pick up the Omnibus this fall and give it a try?
