Carlos Bardem Among Names Set For Comedy Feature ‘Hola, ¿Qué Tal?’

EXCLUSIVE: Principal photography has begun on Hola, ¿Qué Tal?, a comedy feature from Spanish actor and filmmaker Cecilia Gessa. 

The film is written by Gessa and Bea Poey and produced by Almatika Producciones in collaboration with Gessas Producciones, with Claudio Bruno and Sofía P. Jordán as producers. Roberto San Eugenio serves as director of photography.

The film’s ensemble cast features Carlos Bardem (Cell 211), Clara Alvarado (Money Heist), Alba Planas (The Red Virgin), Estefanía de los Santos (The Coffee Table), David Amor (Friends til Death), Alex Sorian Brown (Hora y Veinte), Javier Bódalo (The Night of the Virgin), Bianca Kovacs (La que se avecina), Tomás Pozzi (Risen), and David Pareja (The Coffee Table). 

Also starring are Laura Pamplona (No One Could Live Here), Patricia Galván, Rocío Saiz (Daniela Forever), Arlette Torres (The Olympia Clan), Guiomar Puerta (Montecristo), Sara Jiménez (Estoy vivo), Alba Rico (Violetta), and Alma Gormedino (Vestidas de azul). 

The film’s synopsis reads: “Hola, ¿Qué Tal?” takes place during the countdown to the most important event of the year for the agency Eventón and its client Belleza Brava. Over the course of one month, twenty interconnected characters reveal their secrets, desires, fears, contradictions, and stories inside seven bathrooms, where appearances fall away, and the private inevitably becomes public.” 

“With this film, I wanted to use a space as common and universal as a bathroom to observe people when they think no one is watching,” said Gessa. “In Hola, ¿Qué Tal?,” bathrooms are places of transition, refuge, confession, escape, and encounter. I’m interested in that precise moment when the image we project to others breaks down and who we really are begins to appear.”

The film will shoot across June. Gessa is an actor and director. Her last project, a short titled Una Conversación Pendiente, premiered at the Malaga Spanish Film Festival in March. Hola, ¿Qué Tal? is her feature directorial debut.
