After such a long wait, the Bat Signal has finally gone up, and the cast is officially on its way back to Gotham. The Batman Part II has been one of the most anticipated projects in Hollywood for the last few years, after Matt Reeves‘ rain-soaked depiction of the Dark Knight left so much potential on the table. But now, after so many years and delays, the sequel is finally moving much closer to production. Naturally, that means it’s almost time for Colin Farrellto get back under all that Oz Cobb makeup.
Speaking with Collider’s Steve Weintraub while promoting the upcoming return of his acclaimed Apple TV sci-fi noir series Sugar, Farrell offered a new update on when he will return as the Penguin in The Batman Part II. Asked when he would be putting the makeup back on for Reeves’ sequel, Farrell said filming is about to begin, though his own work will come a little later. “They start, I think, in a week,” Farrell said before asking, “Is there a plan for you to go over and see?” When Weintraub joked that he would pay someone to let him visit the set, Farrell added:
“I don’t have the power to charge such an invitation, but it’ll be an amazing set to be on. The script, I’ve said before, and you know, I said it to you, it’s extraordinary. It really is. Matt is just so brilliant, and he just cares so deeply about the stories he tells. I will go fly to London in four or five weeks. I haven’t got much to do on it, but I’ll go for four or five weeks. I’ll be there for a few weeks. I’m so excited to see it as a fan.”

Who Is Involved in ‘The Batman Part II’?
From the sounds of it, Farrell’s Oz Cobb will be more of a background player in the sequel, which makes sense after The Penguin gave Oz his own spotlight as it followed his rise to the top table of Gotham’s criminal underworld. But we’re still thrilled to see him back, given how big an impact he made the first time around. The Batman Part II is currently scheduled to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. Robert Pattinson, who returns as Bruce Wayne/Batman, recently revealed that the sequel will involve “11 weeks of night shoots,” which feels extremely appropriate. Reeves is directing from a script he wrote with Mattson Tomlin.
