Six years ago, AMC Networks purchased the rights to adapt Anne Rice‘s epic fantasy novels, including The Vampire Chronicles and Lives of the Mayfair Witches, and since that time, strides have definitely been made in bringing those supernatural stories to the small screen, with mixed results. While Interview with the Vampirepremiered to both critical and audience acclaim in 2022, it also set a standard that subsequent spin-offs have yet to really meet.
Mayfair Witches, which debuted a year later, has been somewhat of a mixed bag, but is on pace to match the vampires with the premiere of its third season at a date yet to be announced, while the spin-off The Talamasca: The Secret Order, only dropped one season before it was canceled. Knowing how expansive Rice’s original world is, though, is there a possibility for AMC’s Immortal Universe to continue expanding with more spin-offs?

AMC’s Anne Rice Universe Is Still Growing on Television
When Collider had the opportunity to speak with The Vampire Lestat‘s cast and crew in anticipation of the season’s premiere, we had to check in with executive producer Mark Johnson about the current status of the Immortal Universe and whether there are any projects currently in development within the overall franchise. According to Johnson, there’s no hard number of shows that AMC has required, but there are a few titles that could emerge to build out AMC’s Anne Rice universe sometime in the future:
“We’re very lucky in that AMC has not given us a mandate. It’s not like we need four shows, and these are the dates on them. It’s much more natural and organic. Most importantly, given that we’re having this conversation, we want desperately and are doing our utmost to think about a Season 4 of the show we’re talking about right now. I have to believe it’s inevitable. What do I know? But there’s no way we can’t continue this, this saga, we can’t continue Lestat and Louis… We have two or three that probably I shouldn’t announce quite right now, but we are robustly developing, and hopefully we’ll have, before you know it, a third show and hopefully a fourth.”
