Fallout: Battle For Boston Officially Takes Players Back To Fallout 4 Next Month

[

The Fallout franchise is in a remarkably solid place right now, and none of that is thanks to the release of a new single-player game, which still seems to be frustratingly far away. The Prime Video adaptation is probably the best example of this in recent times, with that really rejuvenating fan feeling around the series, and bringing in a whole raft of new supporters who previously hadn’t engaged with it.

The news that relatively new Xbox head Asha Sharma wants to prioritize the franchise moving forward is tentatively good news for the community, but we’ll have to wait and see what materializes, and how quickly it does so. In the meantime, there’s still plenty of Fallout fun to be had, and one release in particular is a very comprehensive offering that’s worth your consideration.

Over on the official Modiphius Entertainment website, you can find the listing for one of their more exciting products, Fallout: Factions – Battle for Boston Starter Set & MacCready.

Available for pre-order right now, it’s set to serve as the perfect introduction to Fallout: Factions, which is essentially a miniature skirmish game that takes queues from existing titans in the genre. The starter set contains everything you need to get going with the game for the first time, with the full list of inclusions as follows:

  • 1x 106-page rulebook
  • 1x sprue of 12 hard plastic multipart Institute miniatures (+ bases)
  • 1x sprue of 8 hard plastic multipart Brotherhood of Steel miniatures (+ bases)
  • 4x sheets of punch-out terrain
  • 1x double-sided battle map (3’ x 2’)
  • 1x miniatures build guide
  • 100 tokens
  • 12 dice
  • 2 blank crew rosters
  • 1 tape measure

As the name suggests, pre-ordering the release also rewards players with a high-quality resin miniature of the very capable MacCready for use in-game. Though pre-ordering often feels like a risk that it’s worth recommending against, Modiphius has a brilliant track record of delivering releases like this one, and you’re in fairly safe hands if you do decide to take the leap.

Whatever Xbox does decide to do with the next Fallout game, it does seem like we aren’t going to be able to play a new game in the series for a long time to come yet. That makes releases like the one above all the more valuable, if only to keep momentum around the franchise going with fans, and to show how much of an appetite there is for new content tied to the IP.
